Watmough granted early release

MANLY have announced the signing of forwards Willie Mason, Feleti Mateo and Siosaia Vave while confriming the re-signing of Jamie Lyon and the immediate release of club stalwart Anthony Watmough.Lyon’s new deal will see him remain at the club until the end of 2016, which inevitably take him to the end of his career.Mateo, who was granted a release from the final two years of his contract at the Warriors, has signed a two-year deal at the Sea Eagles and will consequently replace Watmough who has been granted a release from the final deal of his contract to join Parramatta.Head coach Geoff Toovey thanked the representative forward for his service and committment to the club over the past decade.“Anthony is a local junior, a two-time premiership winner and a life-member of the Club. I’m disappointed to lose a quality player such as Anthony Watmough,” Toovey said.“He has been an integral part of the success here at Manly for many years.“We wish him all the best for the future and thank him for his service to the Sea Eagles.”Mason will join the Sea Eagles on a one year deal as will Sharks forward Vave. And the 34-year-old couldn’t be happier with the move.“I’m excited to be joining the Sea Eagles. It’s a highly-respected club with a history of success,” Mason said.“Everyone talks about the culture here and the winning mentality, so I’mlooking forward to being a part of that next season.”In addition to the changes regarding the player roster, the club has also announced the appointment of a new CEO, Joe Kelly.Kelly has been the CFO and 2IC at the South Sydney Rabbitohs for the past eight years and prior to that Head of Finance at Chelsea Football Club in the UK.“We are absolutely delighted to have secured Joe as CEO of the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. Joe is clearly one of the most talented executives in the game and has been instrumental in the turnaround at the Rabbitohs,” club Chairman Scott Penn said.

"He got wider in attack, particularly towards Mam side of the field that helped him poke the nose through and make metres. Brisbane were back peddling the whole second half bar one set on our own line where Samrani stayed down and Reynolds went off."

"De Belin looked way better in his 2nd stint. But his sole purpose is defence, in that portion of the game where Brisbane middles tried to wrestle back momentum in the middle he was solid in defence. "
