Was Lasalo re-born tonight?

Outside of Justin Horo, the player who has most dissapointed me this year has been Taniela Lasalo. This was the year he had to step up from a big improving year last year to being a genuine danger on the edge. He just didn't do it.

He was highly impressive tonight and made a very big difference. I don't know if they've been working on his power but he was punching those fringes with a lot of thrust tonight and was breaking through the tackle edge time he touched the ball, and with the offload was proving a huge handful.

We went into this year, with about 5 young edge second rowers all of which had potential but none who had established themselves as genuine starting second rowers. With the exception of Matt Ryan, not one of them has made the step up however Lasalo showed what he is capable of tonight.

  • I agree, I think tonight lasalo stepped up and hopefully can continue to improve. Then again the entire team stepped up which may had helped his confidence, but any case a good performance by him
  • All the backrowers were great tonight, while Lasalo was good he wasnt at the same level Hindmarsh Smith Paulo Ryan

  • In a short word NO !!!!

    .

He has had 18 + months Lucky Phill

    .

! game played to his Potential

    .

    No Released A.S.A.P

  • He only played limited minutes, but that time was all quality. I don't think there's any need to make those kinds of comparison especially when Hindmarsh was on another planet tonight. I look for the little signs that players start to do the role that their coaches need them to do. Lasalo needs to threaten the edges and working down some pretty skinny edges he was poking his head through on every run, and let's remember it was his offload that set up Burt's try and put us back in the match.

  • Just got home from watching the game. Lasalo: I couldn't believe it. Some of his runs had power, thrusting with venom and acceleration, I was wondering who that last run belong to and I was like: gee whiz. That was Taniela. Well done. About time.

  • It's only 1 game, wouldn't be getting too excited just yet

    • Exactly, still at the bottom of the ladder,

  • Lasalo re-born????

    OMG!!!

Does that mean Lasalo's mum was pregnant with him again?!! Wouldn't that be a little awkward for her? What about his birth certificate, should he update it?

I didn't know science could do that!!!

3320895752?profile=originalAhhh, another beautiful day in the womb.

  • Lasalo was ok, but it was Hindy I thought was re-born especially in the attack dept. Great to see him enjoying his footy and not bogged down being a defensive robot !

    • Hindy played like he was 20 again. Lasalo didn't do to much IMO !

"I think Papalii has earned a call up, but not sure where. I think he's played wing before and he can come inside to play-make if needed too and added some more unpredictability especially next to Hawkins.
We have Tuilagi back tho so maybe that…"

"I think Ryles will do same. Name Samrani and put Doorey onto the bench. I would be tempted to name Papali'i for a debut, Manly have a big pack, why not some speed around that ruck."
