Was 1981-1986 a fluke

Prior to 1981 the team made finals/grand finals on occasions among mostly poor seasons

Since 1986 it's been much the same.

For the vast majority of the Eels 70+ years in the comp they have been unsuccessful

  • The golden years of the Eels was no fluke. We had close to 8 internationals in the team and great coaches. Hindmarsh and Hayne were our last Australian international. Says a lot.

    • Fluke might have been the wrong word.

But it was more good luck that those 8 players came together rather than good management.

The likes of the dogs and manly who were major eels rivals in the 80s have had success over multiple periods.

      Parra only had one.

      • Yep. 1 golden era. Worst club in the history of the league.

  • No way. This is what happens when you have a good coach who instils a winning culture. BA has instilled a losing culture.
