THis is a world changing event described as being another 1 in 100 year event that will shape the future of Ausralia and every country in the world.
WE need to be kind to each other. This is unknown territiory for each and everyone of us. No previous template to go off. We are fighting an invisible army that packs some serious punch. Play smart, kick deep into the corners, dont take risks and build up defences. We will force the error in the opposition by making the defence tight as possible. There are lots of very very smart people out there working on cures and treatments. I am convinced that we will conquer this disease and when we come through the other side - valuable lessons will be learnt.
As a country we will return to being like we were built on. Manufacturing and producing our own. Might not be cheaper but as an Island we wont ever be this vulnerable again relying on other countries. We will re- calibarate our foundations in finance, health , defence , private sector and big business. Work practicses will change and go towards flexible working arrangements as we embrace technology like never before. Wages and small business will hurt for a long long time but I beleive we will get back to normaility and start building again.
The key is how we treat each other now. WE need to be kind. We need to respect each other. People are struggling and mental health is a crisis of this magnitude is going to be huge. You might not be able to visit someone, but call them, text them, encourage them. Suicides will be prevelant and crime will rise I am sure of that. Dont you be the next statiistic for either category.
THERE are a lot of very smart, caring people on this site. When it is all said and done, we all want to cross the bridge to the other side. You never know what is ticking inside someones head and you never know what they are thinking. EVERYONE responds to kindness and humour and support. FONGY offered advice to people in his previous thread. Great stuff.
I have seen a lot of bad things in my life, lot of sad things , I have seen what depression can do to someone. All i ask is that if someone needs help on our community here, offer them help or kindness it may save a life.
I hope that everyone remains safe and well, and that we get through this . We have a competition to win and a long drought to break.

a friend of mine that works in a certain government department has put this up on their Facebook.
So - I just learned. When you call your creditors, mortgage lenders, utilities, etc. asking for help due to loss of income, if you just say you've lost work, income, jobs, show cancellations, whatever, they can't help you.
Once you say "I have no income due to the Coronavirus", that's the keyword they need to hear to be able to enact their new policies, defer payments, halt late fees, etc.
And, apparently, they can't coach you to say it. You have to do it yourself.
Just FYI for everyone, I know who, I suspect, needs this info. Companies have policies in place already - if you need them, use them!

WTF is wrong with people that they think it is times like this we should start treating others with consideration and respect?

We scream at our team and coach for CONSISTENCY, why is it acceptable for us to be so bloody inconsistent in our approach to others?
It is not just this site that has smart people (myself being one of the truly humble and modest leaders in this department) but people in general are not all that bad.
As for crossing "that" bridge I am not sure what you are talkng about, however, despite all the problems and difficulties I may have, I am in no hurry to depart atm.
I will not be treating people any differently to what I was last year, or the year before that. WHY? because people are either Mates ot Mongrels. It seems just a little odd that China somehow managed to contain the virus pretty much to one area without it hitting the majour cities and did not impact their economy yet it has quickly spread throughout the rest of the world with ease drastically damaging economies everywhere leaving the Chinese in a very strong position to totally dominate the world economy.

Bullshit they have. They are covering up like they do with everything. Multiple cities closed down for months and the greatest population on earth, and they claim a death toll lower than Italy and France who have had the virus for a lesser period of time. Do not believe China for a minute. What the world is now experiencing, prooves their lies.
My tip, stop selling off our Country to China or anyone else. Screw the lot of them. We have more than enough of pretty much everything in this Country to once again become self sufficent. Re establish manufacturing at home. We sadly sold it off because of the cheap labour options in China and elsewhere. Keep our quality meat, fruit, dairy and everything else in here, excess sold elsewhere, not the other way around. Educate our own instead of allowing others to "buy" their way into our system. We have one of the largest Uranium supplies in the world. FFS, use it. The mindset of years of politicans willing to sell this Countries assets off HAS to change. Time to wake up. China is not an ally and nor are they here to help and better the world. They have shown it time and time again.
