Wallabie chasing Eels outside back

Eddie Jones and the Wallbies are putting their sights on Bailey Simonsson. Simonsson is still contracted to Parramatta for 2024, though has been offered a new contract apparently, which at this stage has been left unanswered. Now i am not sure how to feel on Simonsson at the moment. He had a decent 2023 after quite a shocking 2022, Mid way through 2023 he hit a purple patch of form. Though fell a little later in the year. Now you could blame Asi and Davey for that as he was left on an island a lot of the time, though not sure he is the Centre we need, but also every game he has played on the wing for us he has been dreadful.

So hopefully we sign a Centre and a winger that can compete with Simonsson, then if he leaves it is all good as we have the new guy.

  • Has a rugby Union background so not surprising but yeah could be replaced by any decent centre. Problem is we can't seem to sign a basic centre or winger 🤣

    • My fear is us only signing a Winger and thats it. We need both Centre and Winger for competition.

      • Tass or Olam would be fine but we seem incapable of getting these types of players 🤣

    • The roosters don't want Corey Allan. Who's better... Simmonson or Allan?

      • Simonsson by a mile.

  • I remember a few games where he played on the left wing for us, and he went alright. Simonsson is a left side player. So he was always wasted on the right. But he's been decent on the left at centre because he's better on the left. Therefore he'd be a good left winger because he doesn't have to pass. Problem being we already have Sivo.

There are plenty of left centres out there. Karapani, Iro, Tamale. All gun centres and all of which won't get a shot. OF those I'd be looking at Karapani. He's a damn good player, and with Rabbits signing Wighton he's not going to get a look in anytime soon.

    • Byron I said it since last year, he moved to the left and looked more comfortable. It seems he runs with leading with his right shoulder with those cross field runs.

We saw Jennings switch sides with us and take time to get going, yet he was a far superior player to Simonsson.

      • I think he's a winger. Maybe he gets better if he trains all off season in the centres but maybe he doesn't. The way I look at it is we need a left centre and a right winger. So I'd get players who have played in those positions for most of their careers. Nofoaluma is a right winger and might be coerced out of tigers if he wants to play finals footy again before he retires. I know his defense is questionable at times but he went better at Storm. As for left centre I've already said three players that play in that position. Karapani could be anything.

        • Karapani has massive wraps on him. Iro and him in similar siutations where the path to first grade is blocked. Eels need to blow the house down and chase them.

          • Someone is going to lock him up. I don't think it'll be Rabbits as they have Wighton. And he's a Kiwi, not indigenous.  What's even more impressive is he's a big centre. But has dancing feet. And unlike Simonsson, Karapani can find an offload in the unlikliest of places.
