I think we are over thinking on recruitment, this time of the year it is understandable and because we have done nothing (seemingly) we are speculating about all sorts of "ghosts" in the woodwork.
One of the problems is poor communication from a perceived lack of leadership from the Parramatta Board.
When Gurr was the CEO he was a regular spokesperson for the club and what we were doing, he did this naturally and it gave all the commentators on here enough information to understand what is happening. "Bean Counters" are notoriously bad communicators!
NOW we have Jim Saratinos as the CEO (Yes a Bean Counter) and I am sure his qualifications as a business executive are very strong....BUT he is not a leader and whilst we have given him time, that time is now past.
What we don't know is "enough" and not knowing fuel's negative speculation about all sorts of things, unfortunately the players and coaching personell see and read this stuff and it is not a positive influence for them, and that is putting aside the supporter base. I have been around enough to know if you repeatedly say the same thing, over and over again then the weak minded become influenced by the "rhetoric".......Christ we are even reading speculation of the likes of Spagnolo and Fitgerald wanting to come back???.....god help us, we still need to go foreward, notwithstanding our "stupidity".
Weak minded you say !!!............. well face it we are talking about footballers who most have an education of a 14 year old when they discovered thay had sporting ability, and thinking went out the window. An IQ test for every footballer would be mandatory in my recruitment policy, not as a criteria but a way of evaluating what we are dealing with.....Jarryd Hayne may have had a different outcome if that was observed in his development..... what sort of mentoring goes into these young players that we proudly announce on our pathways.....my guess is again a shortfall in communication......
As the heading says Wakey Wakey ......where are our thinkers and why aren't you communicating.
For the poor souls on here reading this and feeling insulted....I advise one thing....read it again!

Pops that iq test is called the wonderlic in the nfl and it's all part of the interview process at the combine when there scouting & recruiting.
Thanks Coryn, no surprise that you knew this....personally I didn't but I don't follow NFL, but it is reassuring to know my thinking is not backward. Lol

April is the time of the pro football draft–a time when the physical performance of pro football candidates is closely measured and compared. But the testing doesn't stop at the bench press and broad jump. Players are also administered a unique intelligence measurement called the Wonderlic Personnel Test. The test is a sort of IQ test used to measure players' aptitude for learning and problem solving. The possible score range is 1 to 50. The average football player scores around 20 points and scoring at least 10 points suggests a person is literate.
Now you have the opportunity to determine your own intelligence score. Best of all, you are compared to top pro football players—from Vince Young who barely scraped by with a 6 to former punter Pat McInally who has the only perfect score on the Wonderlic in league history.

in all seriousness, you can't tell me he's filling a whole week recruiting and retaining . I could understand if we were chasing players that lots of time would go into preparing offers and haggling with big names , but we are merley going down to the NRL Centrelink and picking up the blokes sitting on the front steps.
You are probably right Wiz, but its like being a professional punter, you can spend all week analysing form and still not pick a winner.

Bean counters are indeed notoriously tight lipped .. not by choice I believe but just not the nature of the beast.
I too would like our Marketing Dpt to step up and communicate some more, give us some hope that we are scouting around the Pacific Islands, looking at emerging talent in England and seeing who may become available from the NRL...

Where on the same track Archie. I have nothing against bean counters, some of my best mates are/were accountants and financial controllers, I had a simple rule with them.....leave me alone and I will make it, you just make sure you count it right.
That said actually some accountants are bloody good at business insight/instinct and at the same time not great communicaters, I suspect that Jim Saratinos could be one of those guys and just keeps it on his chest....Archie is on the right track I feel in that we should have a public spokesperson who lets out some news to satisfy the chooks to quote the great Joh!
