More than 55,000 fans have snapped up tickets for Friday night’s Telstra Preliminary Final clash between the Bulldogs and Eels in what will be a record-breaking finals attendance.
Tickets went on public sale today with more than 12,000 tickets sold in the first hour, following on from the more than 7000 tickets sold overnight during the MyNRL members buying window.
Fans continued the ticket rush throughout the day and, with corporate and stadium member sales included, as of 5pm today 55,200 fans had snapped up tickets for the ANZ Stadium match.
The biggest ever crowd to watch a finals match in Sydney is 57,973 set in 1963 between the Eels and St George at the SCG.
“There’s still plenty of tickets available but the message for fans is to get in now and secure the best possible seat,” NRL Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop, said today.
“This is going to be an event all Rugby League fans will want to be part of.”
