Vs.

Yes, very different players, but how would you compare:

Clint vs Jarryd +  Maika vs Semi

Right here, right now, I'd take Clint in a heart beat over Jarryd. The way I'm seeing CG's game develop, he's becoming like Luke Ricketson, or RCG or dare I say it Cameron Smith like. A standout, standup Captain. Not a Super Star like Joey. Just a fair dinkum, first pick player. I get he's not as fast, or fleet footed as Tedesco, but I'd pick Gutho over him for fullback for the Blues. Put old injury prone Tedesco on the wing.

Maika vs Semi - at this point in their careers... very little difference. That's amazing for the Eels if we can keep Maika's head in family and the game. If he keeps saying his prayers at the end of the game, then he is and we are on the right track to a famous partnership. And a famous premiership.

  • Agreed, I'd take Gutho any day and he is very quickly becoming Parra's greatest ever fullback. That's quite something considering some of the greats we have had in Thornett, Hayne, Taylor etc.

  • Clint vs Jarryd - Hayne was a superior athlete obviously - arguably the most athletically gifted player the game has ever produced. But Gutho is quickly establishing himself as one of our most consistent performers since the Golden Era of premierships. He's just so reliable. He does the important things like positional play and support play much better than Hayne ever did and he's a superior talker. Probably the better ball player too. Gutho for mine.

Sivo vs Semi - A lot of people on here are quick to suggest Semi was a better player but I'm not so sure. Semi was certainly a better broken field runner - if the line didn't come at him straight then look out. But the main thing that a winger is paid to do is finish try movements off from a few metres out and I've never seen a more devastating player from that distance than Sivo. I also think Sivo is the superior defensive player although possibly Semi was better under the high ball in defence. Not sure on this one. I think it's a dead heat. Different types of players really,

    • Semi had game breaking ability though, and Maika isn't quite there yet. If Semi got into space it was shut the gate, Maika doesn't quite have that. I agree in the finishing part, Sivo close to the line is practically unstoppable. He sees 2 defenders in front and just backs himself to run through them.

      • Agree 100% again Coryn with what you have said. Can you imagine Guru Snr and Semi on the wings during our premership years? Mouthwatering stuff hey.

  • Hayne was simply magic when he was on, (when on), Radrdra was one of the best wingers to play the game, Gutho is just an all round competitor and doesn't stop competing Maika is great but doesn't have the fleet footedness of Radradra,  id take Gutho and Radrdra

  • Hayne was a pure magician on the field. One of, if not the best player I've seen play the game, he had everything in his game, expect 3 things... Heart, Attitude & Determination

These are three things Gutho has in spades, and it's something I (without a shadow of doubt) value more. Gutho is becoming the best Parra captain of our era, and it's great to see. Long live the king!

But, you're off your rocker if you think Sivo is even close to Semi. Semi could completely turn a game from the wing and probably the best winger to play the game in his short years in playing. This is not a knock on Sivo, I'm loving watching his transformation and development, and he's becoming and amazing finisher... but he doesn't have the vision, creativity or impact that Semi had. It's a real shame the NRL lost a player of his caliber, he was a pure highlight reel every game.

  • Gutho at fullback, Hayne and Jennings in the centers and Radradra and Sivo on the wings.

    That's my dream backline.

    • 1. Gutho 2. Sivo. 3. Jennings 4.Fergo (1st year para) 5. Radradra 6. Hayne. 7. Moses

      • Wasn't fussed with Hayne when he played 5/8.

He was always a better fullback/center/winger then he was a 5/8.

        • Actually my line up would be 1. Gutho. 2. Sivo. 3. Jennngs. 4. Hayne (roaming role). 5. Radradra. 6. Norman 7. Moses.

Hayne can roam around the field and do his magic. I think people forget how good Norman was at controlling the team prior Moses joining. He would of won the Dally M if he prioritised footy over drugs.
