Vai Toutai

Just wanted to point out a stat from the NYC game. Vai Toutai, aside from scoring two tries, knocked up 11 tackle breaks, plus six one-on-one tackles. Given Vai could have been playing Under 18s this year, he truly is going great guns - and not to dissimilar to Loko, in the fact that he's been able to step up in age and still dominate. That's always a sign that your young guys have got that something special.

I said it earlier in the year, but it won't surprise me if our long-term left-hand pairing is Loko and Toutai.

  • You are right; he is one to watch for the future.  In the past his hands have let him down and his ball security was poor.  When he played centre in junior reps he had a problem holding on to the ball when he hit the line.  At the time I thought his best position would be wing.  He loves to get out of dummy half and as your stats suggest he has a very high work rate.  Very strong and powerful.
  • Vai & Jacob Gagan ...selected in the NSW U18'S Blues team to play the banana boys before origin 2 game...Well done lads...
  • Good Player but I like the look of the fullback with a funy name starts with U.

Big strong and better skills all round

  • Bit like Tautai?
  • That would be Chris Ulugia?
  • Ah, the joys of watching the young kids excel at their footy.
A lot of the players are impressing definitely, and Toutai is no different.

Won't be too long before we see him in first-grade too I'd imagine.
  • Maybe he could be a winger that would give us some drive on the early tackle options that we clearly need
  • His defence is what really impresses me about him. He very rarely makes a poor read.
  • Thought I might bump this blog again to highlight the great talent that is, Vai Toutai.
    • Next year he might be 1 winger and thats why I think  BURT is finished for 1st grade.

I really cant see Burt getting any free tickets from SK. This year he is letting things happen but next year he will be kicking arse and cleaning house. Yes I know burt is loyal and a good finisher and kicker and solid.

But Ill be honest the new breed of winger is not the old style burt. You will see these young kids stepping up and playing top grade, just like Hayne did in the past.

You put them on the wing and you give them a taste and move them when they mature.

The kids in under 20s are better than morgan if you ask me.
