Upon reflection, not as bad as I first thought....

I was at the game last night, and, like others,  by the end of the match I was a little underwhelmed by the performance. After watching the game again on TV today I was able to take out a lot more positives from the game:

First: Nathan Cayless is no spent force. He had the most hit-ups, tackles and made quite a few effective offloads. Sure he doesn't often go past the advantage line, but as long as he is offloading he can play an important role in attack.

Second: I didn't realise just how little ball we had during the game. Credit to the Dragons - they played the perfect game and were extremely disciplined. We got no cheap possession (or penalties) all night - that won't happen very often.

Third: We were in the game right up until the end with most of our "go-to" men having a relatively quiet night. Hayne didn't have much space to move and his kicking game was well off, Fui didn't seem fired up and our second phase play was very limited. All things considered we have a lot of improvement left in us and I have no doubt we will improve in the coming games.

I'd prefer to be positive in my appraisal of the team. Honest and constructive criticisms are important, however mindless bagging will only drag us down.

  • You're right it could be worse. We could have lost to the knights like the dogs just did. Lol.

0 from 4 conversions. Lol again.

3 from 4 would have won it.
  • GO THE KNIGHTS
and anyone who plays them dirty dogs
  • Reviewing the match you can tell it is going to be a good year for the eels...for round 1 that was a very high standard match....the dragons were good but were only as good as last year...they will come undone as the season rolls on...the eels will improve with each game, hayne needs to get his hands on the ball for 5th tackle plays like he did last year

"BA was a solid coach no doubt, but most nrl coaches don't get 11 years with no titles. Most clubs change it up after 3-4 years unless it's a Bellamy level coach. 2022 saved his job for a bit longer but that felt like the last shot ."

"Respectful blog, Super.
It's the end of an era. One door closes, another opens.
Arthur did his best he could, to the best of his ability. He's also got a wonderful $1.5m birthday present.
I wish him and his family all the best in the future."
