Update on the norman situation

The Parramatta football department have told at least one rival NRL club they would be willing to pay a portion of the final year remaining on Corey Norman's contract so that he can leave at the end of this season.Norman is contracted to the Eels until 2019, but talk of coach Brad Arthur losing faith in the playmaker won't go away.Norman was moved from the halves to fullback against Brisbane on Thursday night with one theory suggesting it is part of a bigger picture which involves Clint Gutherson and Mitchell Moses combining in the halves and Bevan French shifting to fullback. That plan would leave Norman on the outer. The rival club interested in Norman is in need of a game-breaker, but would only look at the Eels star if Parramatta forked out a large portion of his $900,000 contract.

  • Well he isn't on $900K to start with, he took a contract reduction after the Star City pinga issue which happened just prior to inking a new deal.

    • Back ended contract maybe

    • I wouldn't be surprised if parra back ended the contract so the figure we heard in 2016 (after drug issue) may have been the amount he was getting in his first year of that contract. Just need to look at the example of Beau Scott getting $600K for his final season.

  • $900,000 contract? If accurate I guess that means his deal was back-ended.

    • Sounds about right fishbulb. Considering our salary cap problems the only way they could fit him in was if the dealwas back ended
    • Correct me if I’m wrong but weren’t the dragons reportedly offering Norman a cool million before he signed with Parra. I would suggest the 900k is very close to the mark.

  • Titans bound
    • First club I thought of .

      • geese I hope keeps his "nose" out of trouble on the goldie. Prison gives you the worst back-ended contracts.
