Upcoming Trials

Time to be honest. We know that we are likely to field trial teams without certain key players due to injury, cotton wool attitude etc. At the very least I see us going into these games without Peats, Sandow and Hoppa. I'm not including Edwards because he won't be back when the season starts. Others may not play.So what credence will you play to trial results? Are we going to be pessimistic if a side without key players gets a touch up in a trial? Naturally I would expect any players wearing the Eels Jersey to put their best foot forward and have a real dig. Naturally these games will offer fringe players a genuine opportunity to impress. But if I see a virtual Wenty team take the field, I won't lose sleep from a loss. I will however be interested in performance reports about individual players.

  • It'll be the same as every year. If we win people will say that you can't take away anything from the trials and if we lose those same people will say that our season is over.

    • @ Ham...our season's over...think of the children...will someone think of the children?!

  • Just as i said before the 9s, they are a bloody bad idea, we would be better off sending wenty players,it could have been a whole lot worse than just Edwards and Kaysa out for the year, imo the 9s this year have turned out to be a complete disaster imo, im just so cranky about it.

    • It's time for u to revisit ur faith snakie . Go on into the church choose the most applicable saint and pray baby pray for no more injuries !!!!!
  • If we lose meh, if we win meh.
  • I think the trials is a good gauge on our performance. The fact we leave out a couple of key players out is a good thing. It lets us judge our season properly. We will not go the season without injury, plus SOO. The back up players will be our back ups through the year. If we cant perform with them in the team we are stuffed. I dont care to much about win/loss in a trial, but the way we compete, do we stay with them, how the boys handle pressure.

    • You've worded it perhaps better than I. I would only be interested in the way certain individuals compete.
  • I recall us winning all our trial games in the first year of SK's reign. Did we win any other games that year?
    • True. Even early season form can be misleading. Case in point, Titans last year.
  • Praying doesnt work Carlo, i spent years experimenting with it as a kid, its a lot of effort for very little return.
