the wrestle in tonight’s Melbourne performance is quite hard to watch. There needs to be a rule where if a ref sees wrestling over and above slowing the play down he can just penalise it. I dont know that kids dream of growing up to play this version of RL

100%. The NRL are idiots, they listen to some sports scientist and the coaches and players union who do not want the interchange reduced. Anyone with half a footy brain can see the benefits to the game if they reduced the interchange
Less interchange will increase fatigue, as well as wrestling. Lowering interchange will only mean teams wrestle more to allow their team to rest, kicks will be put out, and more time will be wasted there. There will be other things teams invent.
Yeah, I'm inclined to think that 6 is the right number, although as I've said repeatedly I would like to see at least two of those interchanges changed to permanent subs and expand the bench from 4 players to 7 but you can still only use 4 of those players.. On top of that I would only allow any player to be interchanged once, if he's interchanged a second time it counts as a permanent sub, not as an interchange.
I think that current coaches make up the members of the rules committee, or whatever the official name is, and they have a conflict of interest between what is best for the game and what is best for the team they're coaching. While this continues we won't get as many good rule changes as we should. They should select former players who don't have a professional relationship with their old clubs to steer the rules and regulations committee.

Cameron Smith lays all over them and then gets a penalty when the same thing happens to him. Its absolute rubbish. The number of times the storm worked them over in the tackle taking away any advantage of a strong run.

I can see the one on one strip with the new rule becoming an issue going forward this season. There were approximately 10 attempts in the last 20 minutes of the game. All by the rules but it could turn into a strange game indeed
