I have always had a question over whether Robinson was a good coach or just had a great side. Only making one grand final with the side he has had is not a great effort.
Hope we learn from that one
I think a few coaches have been found out by their lack of success after leaving a successful club.
Stuart inherited a great side at Easts and has been shit house at State of Origin and Raiders.
Hasler inherited good sides at Manly and has been ordinary since.
Bennett was found wanting when he inherited a poor side at Newcastle.Really shows that some of these coaches are a bit ordinary without having the top players to call the shots.
If Trent Robinson is under the pump now, consider his situation if Easts do nab Cronk. If he does not finish in the top two with Cronk on board and /or does not make the Grand Final then Robinson is yesterday`s man. Essentially, Robinson has to win the Grand Final to hold his job. For him, Cronk is a poison challis, if he only knew it. I am pleased to see that bloggers are, at last, taking a realistic approach to coaches. I have long campaigned against the bull .... that such and such a coach is a great coach. They don`t exist. As I have said, coaches are all much of a muchness. You may ruminate on the fact that Robinson is pushing a large rock up a hill to hold his job, where as our own coach in four years has made the final series once.
