So its clear that Morts isnt playing anywhere near what he is capable of which is disapointing seeing how well he did last year and seeing we just re-signed him on a pretty big deal.
Everyone knows he is a ball running half opposed to a ball playing half, seeing as KK is also a skilled ball running half, and Robson would hardly be classified as first grade quality, we are going to have to make do with the players we have, no trading, axing or selling will be happening so what can we do to unleash him.
Theory 1: Morts to Hooker. Im not expecting much people to agree here but i have to say this, he is very quick and very nippy with good ball distribution skills, he doesnt have a great kicking games so he wont have to Kick so often. If i had morts at 9 I would have Mateo at 6 (he hasnt been the same since moving back to lock, most people like him as a lock, well i like him as a 5/8), KK at 7 and MK coming off the bench. At around the 50th minute mark, i would inject MK as a swap for mateo and move morts back to the halves.
Theory 2: Second receiver role. Self explanitory really, same positions but Hayne would pretty much play halfback or first receiver on selected tackles (instead of Robbo) with Morts or KK playing a second receiver role feeding the ball out to the 2nd rowers or centres and hitting the gaps that Hayne puts them through.
Theory 3: Attack from behind the ruck. Have him play a minimised role and Just chime in when he feels, sort of a free roaming , "jarryd hayne" type postition.
I know none of these will be happening, but i enjoy talking about and covering all possibilites. so yeah.
Drop some of your own theories, or comment on which of my theories you like or dislike. This is an interactive blog so u can say whatever u want and spray me however u like, but if u sledge me hard enough, im gonna have to sledge back ;)
BBG out.

Theory 3 just isnt worth wasting time on because we already have our jarryd hayne type position type player. Jarryd Hayne...
we would just be switching and swapping playmaking roles and right now the team has a no idea look about them already it would just be adding to it.
Really parra need to have kk 1st reciever, morts second reciever, and honestly, hayne needs to get out of the second reciever role and give these 2 the leadership in the direction of the team, like real halves should always have,
hayne looks as rigid now as he did last year when he was at 6, ill say it a million times hayne shoud be gettin the ball of a back pedalling defence when he calls for it. If we are gonna use him at 6 all the time, then just make him the 6 and bring inu back into the team for a fullback. Haynesy cnt do every attacking play for 80 minutes.
IMO that is where Morts is the most destructive. He is a natural ball runner, so when the defensive line has been infiltrated, the Morts can work his magic.
After all, he is still learning the trade so still needs more time to get the kicking and passing game. We need to show a bit of faith in him and let him build up on his confidence, the rest should just come together in due time.
I probably wouldn't put him as a hooker, he is tiny and although he can hold his ground, his tackle count would be too much and inevitably would miss a tackle or 2 that could cost the game.
Im not going to sledge you for your opinions, but I kind of disagree. I think they should keep the same line up and positions as they did with the Raiders (with the inclusion of Inu) and just build on it.
:)
He has the most poppingest of pop gun kicks I have seen since Wes Patton and he doesn't seem a natural ball payer BUT
He is an little terrier in defence and runs it tough, he is also reasonable nippy. Could turn out to be the next Geoff Toovey.
His long kicking game sucks (always has) and his short kicking game is hot and cold (same as last year).
The guys is a lock playing in a 7's body.... He's not a ntaurl ballplayer but is a good and busy running 6......
I wouldn't move him to hooker, but I think KK and Morts should spend a lot of time running from dummy half at their liking..... Tahu too should get in there a lot more too
Im happy if he works at second or first receiver. Really, half and five eight share a very similar role these days. It tends to be that they attacke either side of the ruck, or form as a 1st reciever 2nd receiver combination.
I think Morts needs to stay at half, and learn to grow into the role at this level. Hes a competitor, and tough and I have every fith that he'll succeed
