Somehow these have lobbed up on ebay, before the club has released them and told its members and fans. They could of course be fakes but they all look pretty legitimate to me. PLC as a sponsor is an ordinary look IMO.

  • It actually becomes a smarter way of using club grant money. It promotes the club whilst putting funds into the football. We are heading into some major development at the club and the stadium. I have no problem with the name Parra on our jerseys.
    • What do you mean by club grant money? I thought sponsors paid us money in exchange for us having their logo everywhere? It wouldn't be costing us anything would it?

Although it may look okay, it feels like the "easy" option in that we didn't try to get a big name company on the front, and just stuck PLC on there out of convenience.

    • Does this mean the club is our major sponsor.....so we get a grant and sponsorship coin aswel?
    • Its a huge fail.

    • It's not a fail Snake. Not yet at least.
Fact is we don't have a $1.2 million main sponsor for 2017. Not surprising considering our scandals this year. It will take some time to rebuild our credibility but that will happen with good on field performances and our new Management working hard to rebuild our image. As we do that we will undoubtedly garner interest from suitable sponsors. But until then why leave that expensive real estate blank. The PLC already gives a future the the Eels nrl side. They have every right to use that space until we find someone suitable whonis willing to pay for it.
    • *a fortune (not future)
    • Didn't the club sponsor us last year to the tune of $11m or so?

  • Think you will find that the Leagues Club will only be on the training gear, NRL have basically disallowed it on the playing strip

No doubt there are ongoing discussions for sponsorship of the playing gear, makes me begin to understand how much damage the rule of the past couple of boards has done . It means that the second best supported club behind Souffs is a difficult sell. Amazing that we will, probably have to wait a while for the smell to disappear
  • Definitely wouldn't be done out of convenience. The club grants money to the football team every year. There would now be an amount that would be considered as a promotion/sponsorship expense. We have no problems attracting sponsors. They would have crunched the numbers and we have some shrewd business minds in charge now.
    • 60s thats club spin imo, the leagues club has been giving us money for years without their name as a major sponsor, if it was so shrewd every club would be doing it, its just losing one external source of revenue, its not rocket science.

Its pure spin from the club trying to paint this in a good light.
