Unbiased assessment of BA

I’ve been thinking on the BA issue like we all have in the last few weeks. Obviously there are a lot of passionate people amongst us fans and it seems there are two clear camps forming in regards to the coaching. I’d like to offer a different perspective - one which isn’t entirely sack BA or that he is our saviour. BA began his stint with us in one of our lowest ebbs. In the last five years he has bought us from cellar dwellers to top four - nice achievement which we cannot sent. Hso well that even the Fong acknowledged our efforts and “quit” this site as a result. However....Arthur’s detractors are also not wrong - recruitment has been terrible and a lack of game plan appalling. We have essentially the same squad as last year so why are we performing so poorly? Here is where my theory of Arthur comes in. Generally all reports are that Arthur is a coach which players want to play for. Fair enough. However he has a short record to gauge this off. This reputation came from his first few years and particularly froour lost salary cap season. My point is that Arthur was the perfect coach for what was happening to the club AT THAT TIME. He was loyal to his players, someone they could trust and in all honesty a coach who in hindsight seemed to be their “champion” rather than their coach, teacher, drill sergeant, mentor. This seems to be borne out in the style of eels the last few seasons In the fact that we rally when so far behind in a game but can never seal one —- this season is a perfect expansion of this —- I have no doubt if we lose a couple of more games we will “rally” and go on a run - but that is not a successful culture. In summary YES BA is a positive presence on the playing group and has pulled this team through hard yearsI’m my opinion though NO he is not the coach to spring off this platform. Different leaders excel in different times. We are past the hardships and it is hard and seems callous to ditch BA for what he is done, but unless we shift to a leader who can let us reach this next level - someone more technical and disciplined - we will remain stagnant.Sorry for the length everyone but I thought , well hey, every other man and his dog is having a say hahaha

  • We need to keep brad but he has the team rong.

tm should be off the bench and normz should be at hooker.

he should make it priory to get hopa back

  • Sorry for the typos - was doing this on my phone and it stuffed up for some reason
  • Lol
  • Like many new coaches I think it’s not about tweaking arif but I think he is probably a great assistant coach. It pains me to say it but I don’t think at this point in his career he has the skills
    • You probs right beeri 5 yr long enough to sign good players. The team hasn't improved at all. His recrutment reminds me when we had Webb hick fatawira and walker.

  • Some good points. But I personally think he deserves more time before sacking him. We came 4th last year and have only played 4 games this year...

    • He's recruiting sux it stinks like when fatawira Webb hick and walker played for us

    • Yes, but we lost 2 in a row in the semi's last year the games that REALLY MATTERED, and unfortunately we have carried that form into this year with 4 losses in a row, all up 6 straight losses and staring at 7.!!!!!! Not good enough for all the long suffering fans.!!!

  • Nice blog,
I’m yet to make judgement on his performance he deserve a bit more time
  • I don’t believe the problem lays with the coach, I do believe our problem is on field leadership not so much from Scott, as he will do what’s required but we do need an 80 minute captain.
