Two significant signings?

At the beginning of this year I was informed by a club insider that there will be two strong additions to the squad for 2015.  It was obvious that leaks have been shut down because he would not divulge who the club was negotiating with, and I was simply told that they would be quality signings.

Obviously this means that contracts will be finished/not renewed in order for salary cap room to be opened up. I do not want to speculate on who will go because this has been done to death in other blogs and I also think that it is an unnecessary negative focus on a team that is performing well.

However, this insider spoke very strongly about how confident that the club was about a top 8 finish this year (in spite of comments to the media about nobody thinking about top 8). This person was also very adamant that the signings would be very significant and the impression that I was left with was that talks must have been advanced.

I was given no clues as to who it could be and would not pretend to speculate. Again, it is a good sign that I was not given any names.

So the question remains - what players are available next year that are "quality signings".

  • I'm still waiting on that one more marquee signing in the pipeline.
    • What about the one before last years trade deadline
  • Izzy Folau and Benji

    2015 backline

    1. Izzy

    2. Semi

    3. Hayne

    4. Hoppa

    5. Folau

    6. Norman

    7. Marshall

    • Well there goes your salary cap. BTW, you play Izzy in the centres and Hayne at fullback.
  • Hey Miatch. I know you get good info at times. This is a fair dinkum comment given to me from someone who would know something. I have no intention of coming on here pretending to know something that I don't. I wish I had names but as I said I'm glad that I wasn't given any because it means any negotiations are being kept confidential.

"Seems it is Galvin's role at Dogs that is the issue, not necessarily Galvin per se? Galvin permanently replaced Sexton at #7 for Dogs in Round 20 of 2025. After 19 rounds going into Round 20, Dogs were 3rd (12 wins, 4 losses, 3 byes; 366 (f) vs 270…"

"Yeah they won 70% of the twenty games prior to Galvin's arrival and only 50% in the twenty games since he arrived. It is all Gus' fault. He needs to admit he made a mistake. Everyone else is already thinking it so he needs to man up and admit it.…"
