  • interesting side! matterson not in the top 17! no real surprises there i suspect for anyone.

    • Think the fact that Hands is in the 14 more to do with wanting to give him equal opportunity to fight for that first grade spot. I think with Carty in the side, who can pretty much play every spot on the park I think BA is right not to go with a second hooker. So many head knocks these days you really need to focus your bench cover with the expectation one of your big boys won't finish the match.

  • If Hands is included in the 17 rd 1 it would mean an NRL quality forward wouldnt make the 17.

  • Me thinks this could be Mattos last year at parra. Which I don't mind tbh

    • Matto was a key player last year due to the impact he brought of the bench. But now Ofa, Tualagi and Grieg will all do a good job.

Next year I assune Rodwell, Moimesia and Makatoa are leaving the club but we may try keep Ogden for depth. Then we will promote Tuivita and Moretti into the top 30. So could it be an option to release Matto if it means it frees up cash to buy a quality outside back or fullback (depending when Gutho thinks he needs to shift out of fullback). Paulo comes off contract 2026 and RCG 2025 so that gives our current forwards plenty of time to reach an elite level or we can sign someone.

Just a thought, not saying I would do this.

    • We have signed him until 2027. Another ridiculous term considering he pretty much cruised up until contract year , played like a man possessed for his new contract and then gave us 75% effort again.   Hillsong does something to these guys attitude wise. Hayne was the same, played like crazy when it was to ensure their monthly contribution percentages was getting Father Houston his bit and plenty left over. Once they have that secured it's back to self preservation again.

    • He played for his contract and now he got it, so he doesn't care as much..

I don't mind if he leaves after this season.

  • Its clear that BA still is worried about the outside backs as they are the only positions listed in the reserves. Must have 0 confidence in a back up winger so must be praying that one of them show something in the small opportunity they get (probs last 20min).

But surely the club will use Ogden and Moretti as a minimum in the trial too or do they need to actually be listed?

    • Reckon he will want to get some match fitness into his forwards, so will want this to replicate a full match as much as possible

      • Fair enough, I assume those boys will be in the NSW Cup trial anyway.

How much do you think the game makes from State of Origin? Ticket sales alone would be huge. Let's say over the 3 games 160,000 tickets are sold for an average price of $150 each. This equals $24,000,000 plus broadcasting revenue and sponsorship…"
