Training Blog 23/1/15

Training kicked off a little earlier as there were two separate sessions held today. Here are my observations for today:The training commenced with what appeared to be an extended nines squad. The plays warmed up with a bit of walking footy and built up to a nines run through. I should state that I view the 9s format as being a bit of fun and not a genuine guide to what is going to transpire in the season proper. So taking that into consideration the highlights of this session included:* Reece Robinson's anticipation and speed* Taka's anticipation. He took an intercept as did Robinson* The inclusion of Lavaka and Folau* Pritchard at dummy half. He looks very fit and should excel in this format. It appears that his injury worries are behind himAfter this first session was completed, the rest of the NRL squad arrived. They too completed a modified session of 9 on 9 on a smaller field. The focus was on earning rewards from effort, taking chances when they are presented, working hard to get into position, and speed out of and around the ruck.I particularly enjoyed Choc's kick and chase.Today I was able to learn something from a wise man. Defence is a defensive word. You can attack with the ball and you can attack against the ball. I think we might all see this in action. Finally, this will be my final preseason training blog as it's back to work next week. I hope that you've all enjoyed the snapshots that I've tried to provide. It's been a labour of love to compile these reports. Without doubt having this opportunity has me revved up for an exciting season. As Parra fans, we have a bright future to look forward to. We have a squad that will give the finals a shake and a coach to take us back to the glory days. I'm proud to call myself a member of this football club and if anyone reading these blogs has been inspired to take up a membership, then I will feel even prouder. See you at the games! I'll be the bloke wearing the blue and gold so come and say g'day.

  • Thanks mate, nice work.

  • Haven't read it yet Sir Sixties but its like a little a christmas everytime I see your training blogs pop up. Thank you

  • Thanks 60's for all this news day in day out. You're the best.

    Have fun back at work.

  • Awesome stuff 60s, mate cant you just give up work so that you can keep bringing us these training blogs lol, works over rated mate.

    • Many thanks 60s for your great reports over the period. As Snake said work over-rated can't you just become a homeless person hanging around the training grounds all year and report back! What is wrong with people these days, just no consideration, the greater good over-rides your own!

    • Can we pass the hat around to fund his eels training watching?
  • Well, given Phil's undoubted wealth, maybe he and the "Premiership Club" can employ me as the official Eels correspondent!
  • Again, most appreciated Sixties!

Would have loved to have joined you today, but again, the gym was calling me (the fitter I have been since getting back to the gym, the more work I have been getting ... the pitfalls of my industry!!)

I've enjoyed the blogs matey, honest, balanced, well thought out and more important, positive.

    Catch you soon

"It might be the fact that some people don't like the idea of living in Sydney and has nothing to do with the Eels recruitment. I mean seriously who really wants to live in Sydney? I left the place in the 80's and never went back. "
