So the NRL have added $570k to this yrs cap relating to our TPA's that  are apparently not at arms length from the club from previous years

If this is the case looking forward how many of our  contracted players for 2017 now have invalid TPA's that will be added to next yrs cap and if so how much.

  • Todd only knows ...

    • He will tell us in June next year
  • We have 19 players signed for next year but not all of them would have TPA's. The ones that were deemed to be organised illegally in 2016 will also be deemed illegal (and added to our cap) in 2017.

  • Its a good question and one which hasn't been answered. I would expect that all the ones from 2013 will be dead and buried, plus the Watmough ones if he is retired.

We will be paying for Peats next year supposedly, but we won't be paying for Joseph Paulo who we are paying for this year.

Between Peats, Junior, Joseph and Watmough, we should be saving more than $1.3m, but Corey will be upgraded by perhaps $350k to $750k. Assuming there are other upgrades taking place, we still should have $600k or so for a signing or two.

Suggest we will be paying Jennings more next year than this year too.

Hope so anyway !! Best to ask Schubert.

    • How can we pay for Peats next year when he is not contracted to us for next year?  If anything we would be paying him this year

  • I understand the deal we have done involves the Titans paying his 6 months this year on the basis we pay for some of his salary next year. Yes I get your point and agree but we got bent over with no leverage.

    • Is your understanding from Brent Reed of Triple M? Because that guy doesn't really have his finger on the pulse...

      • no.

  • Peats' father's comment that Peats was told there would be no offer for 2017 strongly suggests our recruitment will be limited by 2016 TPA's deemed to be on the cap for 2017. The question becomes for just how long will we wear the concrete boots bequeathed by the Boards of the Eels?
  • Well since they have thoroughly audited our electronic footprint and been through 700k pages of documents, why is it that everything relates to pre Seward or of it. Wouldn't they have some juicy tpa deals on some of our more recent signings? Maybe there is nothing wrong with them?

"De Belin will do a lot of the clean up work, the 3rd man in for our defence. Hopgood is now not alone in that area. He will not be flashy but he will definately do his job."

"positives are Loiero is out. That is a big piece of their middle, he does a lot of clean up work in defence, tightens up the attack. No Katoa and they are umming and arring whether to play Ativalu Lasati or Joe Chan on right edge.
