Top Four Is The Goal For The Eels

Parramatta prop Daniel Alvaro has said that the Eels are not content with just making the finals and have aspirations to make the top 4.

With just two rounds of the home-and-away season the Eels sit fifth on the table, equal on points with the fourth placed Sharks.

With a big game at Suncorp Stadium next week against Brisbane, Alvaro says the Eels won't be holding back and will be treating the game as a 'semi-final'.

"We know it will be a tough game and it’s a really important one for us. It’s one we really want to win and are treating it like a semi rolling into the finals," Alvaro said.

Alvaro acknowledged the importance of finishing in the top 4.

“It’s massive, to get that home semi and a second chance, hopefully we won’t need it, but to have that up your sleeve it’s massive heading into the finals," he said.

"We are focusing on what we need to do these last couple of weeks and getting right the things we have to get right."

The Eels had a convincing win against the Titans on Thursday night winning 30-8 and are building towards the finals winning four of their last five games since returning from the bye in Round 19.

    • We lose in brissy we won't make it but we win. Sharks v roosters anything is possible.
  • It would have been fantastic had the tigers held on against the roosters because 2 wins would have guaranteed us a top 4 finish.
  • We win the next 2, Sharks lose to Roosters next week, we get 4th. Or we win next week against Brisbane, and Broncs lose the week after to NQL in NQL, we get 4th. So this Thursday is the top 4 GF for us
  • We will be lucky to hold on to 5th, hopefully we play manly and not Penrith as their game is simply too fast for us
  • Or just concentrate on winning our first finals game and resting a few key players.
Home finals though is probably better than finishing fourth
  • The Knights was a game the Eels would have never won with Perenara at the whistle! Just hope he doesn't referee another Eels game this year or next!
  • Just keep going Daniel we have the Pom poms at the ready.
  • Should be treating every game from start to finish of year thats what seperates good teams from average teams go the eels
    • It's pretty hard to maintain that intensity all season though.

"I reckon when Ryles signed TDS last year he didn't think that Smith had what it takes to be a topline dummy half. It would be interesting to see what his thoughts are now, as Smith has come on in leaps and bounds. I think Parra definitely is better…"
