Top 30 Individual Salary Disclosure

I know this topic has been discussed previously but things are now at boiling point with Roosters signing Cronk. It’s been reported that Cronk is on $2m for 2 years but is that split into $500k the first year and $1.5m the year after? The speculation and innuendo around how the roosters are under the cap are undoubtedly warranted and if they’re under the cap then they should have nothing to hide.I’m at the point where I believe the fans have a right to know the annual salary of the top 30 players of each club as detailed in the cap according to the nrl.We are all investors in this game-whether it be merchandise, game attendance or just watching the game on tv. As an investor I’d like to see more transparency for all of the fans which in turn should create greater competition-this is why the salary cap was brought in after all!

  • TRANSPARENCY - there is no other word in the English language atm that makes my skin crawl worse than this one.

  • Completely agree. So many reasons for this now.
The NRL keep so many secrets and take the fans for granted.
How they spend their money, what each club pays players etc. We’re just meant trust them. Well no longer. This is the straw that broke the camels back for me. I’ve lost all faith in them and don’t trust a single thing they say.
    • Sentiments echoed by a growing number MM. One of the reasons union has gone so badly in aust in recent years is because nz are so dominant. That roosters team on paper should be heads and shoulders above the rest. Someone posted earlier we got beaten by the roosters by 40 this year-what happens with Cronk and Tedesco added!
  • I thought players signs with clubs like roosters and Broncos for less money due to the opportunity to win a comp etc.. If that is the case why did I read Jayden Nikorima is on 350k and will be released to fit Cronk. Seems like legit salary cap management.
It seems to often that when top club want to sign a star we read about over paid youngster being released. Jayden Nikorima wasn't in demand like other players roosters have signed or upgraded contracts and isn't even best in family yet he is on 350k. Every club was after lattrel Mitchell yet he stayed with roosters for same $$ as fringe first grader from Broncos who was utility at best. And Toupu despite being former origin winger and Michael Gorden Also playing for lot less.
    • Exactly FM! How the hell could nikorims have been on $350k?? If they paid that for him then what does that make Tedesco worth? They are seemingly happy to leak to the media that his salary is at $350k now but what is the amount he is registered as being paid under the cap??
  • At a minimum the NRL need to provide a breakdown of what each clubs total salary cap payments and 3rd party payments are. This will at least shed some light on the whole mess.
  • “Heads and shoulders”... are they queenslanders?
