While I like both Gutho and Nathan Brown and the effort they give they in a sense created the poor attack because they over played their hand. In attack almost every pass went fro dummy half to Nathan Brown. When it went to the backline it always went to Guthrie. This makes it easy for the opposition to mark up. Pretty much every pass thrown in the backline ignored the centre. This meant the Manly wingers where never under pressure and simply left the centre unmarked. I do not remember a single run fro dummy half and so we had no go forward and quick play the balls. Brown is coming from way too deep and makes it so predictable and easy to mark because when he plays from deep he never passes the ball. Parramatta hardly offloaded in the whole match. Moses hardly had the ball at all. He hardly ran and the Manly defence was never under pressure. If you look at both teams line breaks they where similar but time and time again we took the wrong option on the last pass or never past at all. Soviet is great but when he is the clear I wish he woul just run flat out because even if caught by a player like Saab he would just swat him off. Opocic was the same was in the clear 15 metres out and looked for someone else to score and the try was bombed. The role of a captain is to bring his team mates into the match not to win the match himself. PS by the way the fullback should never be the captain how do you talk to the ref and also be in position.
If your attack works it is much easier to defend as you raetain the ball after you score. We should acknowledge that we can not win a game with defence and so must be slicker in defence
You cannot win a game under the current rules by only scoring 6 points and you should beat a team that scores 20 points in the game. Really from the weekend I am far more disappointed with our attack than our defence.

Our attack was inept and our forwards were dominated we lost it in all aspects of the game.
Our attack is all over the shop because if we can't beat them into submission there is nothing else. It's boring and predictable. The good coaches just love our style.

I also noticed. that Mahoney did not take a couple of steps forward before his pass. Most passes from then on did not take on a defender before passing. We were doing that much better before and were able to create space for the backline by doing so.
Once you are in the red zone and struggle to score you become frustrated and thats when error,s happen.It also will affect your defense. Mentally you need something to show for if you have good possession, good field position, and can,t score..If you are mentally tired you also become physically tired
We got beat up and couldn't play off the back of momentum.
Sterlo mentioned very subtly that we need more variety. He was very reserved in his comments but he was totally correct. Coming out of our end we were going one out ONLY. Manly were actually lining up to smash the ball carrier because they knew the hit up was the only option. There's so much more we can be doing to add variety, get players one on one. If BA was deliberately playing simplistic because it was early season then now is the time to start to amp up the attack.

Just look Derrick Zoolander we are a one trick pony - one play and that's it.
We are at our best when we play off the cuff with plenty of offloads but for some reason he won't allow the boys to play heads up footy and let them attack.
One out footy will get us nowhere but bashed at the pointy end of the season - might even start earlier.
The best battering rams in the game are J Bromwich and NAS
