Gold Coast has upped the ante to keep hooker Nathan Peats, submitting a revised three-year deal this week.
In the meantime Parramatta entered the equation and is expected to submit a counter-offer in the next few days.
The 26-year-old harbours no ill-will against his old club, which jettisoned him midway through last year in order to become salary cap compliant.
Also in Parramatta’s favour is the fact his partner is expecting her second child, and would appreciate help from Sydney-based family.
The Eels have also spoken about making a bid Bulldogs rake Michael Lichaa.

surely if parra makes a deal equal, if not better, he'll come home???
One would hope. I think if they can sell it to him that the place has changed and there is FINALLY stability within the club, i cant see why not. Who could ever forget the round of applause at the 9min mark the week he left. As fans we love peatsy.
Does anyone think Lichaa would do better under a different coach? I say that because Mick Ennis killed it once he left the bulldogs. Des likes to keep his hookers passing and thats it. Thats why he did so well with Ballin as he wasn't the best hooker but did he job well.
Maybe lichaa just needs to be able to play his game, he might be being coached into a robot. Either way I would take peats back in a hearbeat, the injuries are a worry though with Kaysa doing well we might be able to cover him better than we have previously.
Maybe - he seemed to have a lot of potential when he was at the sharks. Once he got to the dogs his form has been average at best.
Would absolutely LOVE to see him back. If it ends up being a bidding war between us and the titans, i doubt we can match them. They're owned by the NRL and the NRL are desperate for them to be successful up there.
Did those mid-season Rein rumours get nipped in the bud? or is he still being pursued?
