Timmy Smith.

Former Parramatta Eels and Wigan Warriors halfback, Tim Smith has set his sights on returning to the National Rugby League after training with the Brisbane Broncos.Smith, who signed with Queensland Cup side Easts Tigers following a two year stint in the European Super League, has made clear his intentions of returning to the premier Rugby League competition in an exclusive interview on BroncosTV.While Smith is yet to earn a contract, he is eligible to represent the Broncos through their feeder club relationship with Easts Tigers.I think Timmy could turn out to be the buy of the season.

  • Yeah, like Todd Carney. The season hasn't even started yet and he's in trouble.

TImmy will be okay, until he gets a beer in his hands.....
    • I haven't heard of Tim, playing up at all? source?

Tim Smith was the best halfback we had in 10 years perhaps more, I was necessarily for him coming back due to his problems with alcohol, but I certainly wouldn't have been dissapointed.
      • In reference to the buy of the season mate... Todd Carney was rated as one of the 'buys' of the season and he's already in trouble. It's been all over the news mate. That's the source.
  • I would have loved to see Timmy back at the Eels. Imagine Smith and Moritmer in the halves. That wouldve been deadly. I used to love watching him in the back play organising and ordering the players around. Something Robson/Keating need to do more of. Good luck too him.
  • Tim Smith may have loved a beer or six but what did he ever do to anyone when on the grog - did he get in fights, abuse anyone, become a nuisance? no

What's wrong with a young bloke playing a tough sport getting on the grog?

    f'ing nothing.
    • didn't he abuse a father and his son in parramatta somewhere?

Here is an old article I found:

"Wayward Parramatta halfback Tim Smith's contract with the Eels may be terminated after allegations he drunkenly abused a man last Sunday".

IMO, he became too predictable. Would rarely run at the line, and tended to throuw the cut-out too often. His kicking game wasn't that great either
      • he had a great long kicking game and short kicking game
    • Yeah he abused a father and his child.
  • Quick question Tim Smith lovers

What did we win with Tim at half back?

    Nothing.
    • Hard marker, 1 game from the GF losing to the eventual winners. What have we won with any half since Sterlo and your answer would be the same. I would argue that if we had a half such as Tim last year we may have gotten over the line!

"Personally, I'd be happy with Sandon Smith. He's unwanted at the Chooks and would cost half the money Galvin would. Smith is also a young player on the rise and maybe I'm a bad judge but I just don't see this stratospheric ceiling that so many…"

There's a growing segment of historians who demonstrate that empires do not rise and fall through a single, decisive event.
Instead small, incremental, sometimes unnoticeable changes are made until the result has already occurred.
