Time to say well done Waqa

I've been so frustrated with Waqa over the past two years for all the reasons we've blogged about.

But in the last month he is running like a rhino on angry pills....hitting like Mike Tyson in defence...and his combination with Dunster looks more confident

Well done Waqa and coaching staff you've turned a corner and playing some terrific footy

Keep it up

  • Totally agree, but I still think he's a perfect winger. He has absolutely no mindset for setting up his outside player. Certainly a massive improvement from Waqa

    • I nearly fell off my chair when he called Dunster inside him and passed him the ball....although he had no other option lol.

  • Fair call NBE, if only we could teach him some ball skills and how to pass. He is still a winger for mine.

  • I think Waqa sitting on the sidelines watching Marata do well in both attack and defence put a rocket up his arse and made him realise that he needed to earn his position/money.

Completely agree that he now needs to be able to set up his outside man if he wants to retain the centre position. Credit where credits due though, he has been playing well since returning from injury.

  • His defence is now what one would expect from a NRL player. He still can not set up his winger, look at how Penisini set up Fergo, Waqa never does this, he always steps in off the left foot and leaves his winger hanging.

It is zero surprise that Fergo looks so much better now that he doesn't have to cool his heels outside Waqa.

Waqa is bog average, look how a 19 year old kid in his 4th NRL game shows him up.

BA is dumb, Waqa is a winger.

    • Have to agree. Still some massive limitations in his game. It also seems to take him a long time to get going but I admit once he gets motoring he's hard to contain.

Sivo scores a couple of tries a match with and decent ball and even he was doing f all outside Blake.

    • Yep. Some of his carries from our own end were really good. He would be an elite winger IMO under BA.

  • He always had this ability. There is a reason why Gus Gould put him on big money at Penrith. It's a pity it has taken him this long, but glad he is coming good at the right time. He needs to learn to pass...its the final ingredient to make him an elite centre.
