Time to Collect

I read an article the other day about the warriors rushing in a new recruit to fill a gap in the halves. It got me thinking back to the player loans of Alvaro and George Jennings when the warriors were in strife.

Given we need of a short term fix in the outside backs surely the warriors with their huge talent pool can provide us with an outside back so that Dylan Brown stays in the halves for us.

The other more difficult route is a short term player swap deal. These deals tend to hit a few roadblocks with the NRL,  but I could definitely see some value in giving some juniors like JA, Grieg, Rodwell or even Cartwright given he's out of favour, some first grade time in exchange for an outside back or two. Given our injury toll, and the likelihood of players re-injuring themselves as they are rushed back it seems something we should be considering to keep our season on track.

  • Not a bad idea. I saw the Warriors were open to this idea with another club that loaned them players last year or so.

  • So which lower grade Warriors player would you like? You can't grab any of their first graders, so you'd essentially be asking for a guy with probably zero NRL experience. Alvaro and Jennings were surplus for us. We had plenty of first graders in their spot. Warriors have lost DWZ for a few weeks you'd assume with that concussion and they're already playing a pretty inexperienced backline.

We have players due back within the next few weeks, so I doubt it's worth all the hassle and hoop jumping to get an inexperienced guy on loan for a couple of games.

    • Yeah agree SuperEel, We have players returning over the next couple of weeks and rather than grabbing some guys from the Warriors or even another club it might be a better option to get some experience into a few of our next gen players. Hayze Perham did a good job and we have others that could get a run like Naiduki, Cini and Loizou. Opacic could be back this week and Sean Russell is back in the next couple of weeks. Waqa is due back in the next month and Sivo and Niukore are getting closer so as bad as it has been, we are getting to the end of it soon I hope.

  • Would of been good to get issako, his now dropped from the titans the silly prick

    • We know why he hasnt gone this route and saying it will start problems around here so we won't. Lets just say its the same reason we werent interested in Milford as a back up half back end of last season.

  • counting the days for waqa to be back . He was the form winger in early rounds and was growing into that role well.

    • Agreed PT... I think he finally found his home on the wing. Terrible timing of his injury in that regard.

  • Theres no need to do this if Haze can cover the wing over the next couple of weeks. I think the better strategic play here is to trust our youth and play our juniors like Haze, Cini or Naiduki and give them the opportunity. They deserve it more, and are Parra players looking to perform for the future.
