Time for Change

Its about time we started to make players earn their spots. Its time to say good by to Cayless, he has been a great leader but the time has come.Give Hindmarsh the captaincy.Switch: Mortimer to Half Back.Robson to hooker.Feliti to 5/8.Drop EricI hate to say it but Grothe needs to be sent to reserves. He is the player with the most potential but hardly seems to show it. His defense is terrible. He should know where he needs to be positioned in defense. Stay outside your man and force him back in field, simple winger football. Dont rush up in defense and create a gap for the opposition to relish. Its about time they earned their pay!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mate sorry to say but hindy needs to retire too
  • This is absolutely ridiculous! Before I respond, I need to ask - did you think before you posted?

You suggest that we need to drop 3 players. My question to you is, who do we bring up to replace them? I sound like a broken record, but the leap from Wenty to First Grade is staggering. If too many juniors are blooded too early and at not the right time it can destroy their careers. Not only do they begin playing First Grade in a team that is not confident, leading to them developing little confidence, but for forwards especially if they cannot hand the physicality of first grade, they are in big trouble.

If DA thought our Wenty Forwards were ready, he would have brought them up for Shack instead of Oake. This is our team. That is the bottom line and we need to work with what we have.

The above point is not the one that bugs me most though - this blog once again is centred on pre-conceived notions of players. Courageous Captain Caylo is consistently one of our best forwards. He did very little wrong last night and is consistently tackling and making metres. What really detracts from your blog though is the suggestion that we give captaincy to Hindy. If we are honest, Hindy has consistently been one of our worst. He is being brushed off in defence and not making metres.

That makes total sense then - give the captaincy from one our most consistent performers, to one of our worst!
  • C'mon people, even as far back as 1997 the Eels only won 1 game from their first 6 and everybody questioned their pride. Give Parra another 5 rounds to prove themselves and than we'll panick. haha
  • no even back then they played better than this year no more excuses
    • Maybe Parra don't want to burn out to early?
  • They made the Grand Final last year! Give them the benefit of the doubt, let's just wait!

"The best footy fit for Galvin was always the eels, so he can develop with Iongi/Ryley smith and learn off Moses. Eels play an up tempo style of footy that suits him. Dogs is very slow and methodical complete opposite of Galvin game. Was never going…"
