Time for a 18th Man

I think the NRL must finally include a 18th man, in where if a player is injured or confused and wont be able to return to the game, an 18th should be allowed to be used as replacement, it will make it much easier for coaches and trainers to take players off who have an injury of concussion knowing they have sub ready.

  • That's fair I think. Might be a more injuries as the interchange rule drops from 10 to 8 and then possibly lower the year after?
  • 100% agree. Possibly one back and one forward replacement?

  • Too many rule changes id rather go backwards than forwards....reset the rules to the late 90s and ill be chuffed.
    • In a parallel universe, NRL is really warping the rules. Even though masons dummy spit on 9 news was funny he's kind of right. They have softened the game up so much.
    • No other sport in the world makes so many reactive rule changes. Soccer would be hard up changing something every 10 years. We do it on a weekly basis. It would be fine if some thought and trialing happened. Maybe even a call for opinion from the games stakeholders. But they just keep going around in circles with rules going back and forth from benefiting the defence to attack with the balance never right.
  • I don't think this would be fair as some teams have more confused players than others.
    • We usually have 13 confused players
  • Its not a bad point regarding the replacement situation but i think teams would use it to just run a fresh man out there, it would be pretty easy to exploit.

    And Welcome aboard.

    • Agree x1000 snake. Just another weapon in the arsenal....
    • Then I think it's time we had an independent doctor at the ground who consults with the team doctors to determine if a player is unfit to return to the game.
