North Queensland captain Johnathan Thurston may be a surprise inclusion for Friday night's clash with Parramatta in Townsville.
Grandstand understands Thurston passed a fitness test on his injured shoulder during Thursday morning's closed training session, with club medicos set to clear him for the round seven clash.
During Thursday's media conference, Cowboys coach Neil Henry was adamant that the 17 players he picked would play against the Eels, but only in the first round of the competition has he started with the same XIII he named on Tuesday.
Further speculation was sparked when television cameras were asked to leave Cowboys training just after the warm-up.

I’m looking forward to the potential of watching our side without an abnormal level of frustration. We had an encouraging second half last week, but I was totally frustrated in the first half seeing us play U/10’s football. I would love to see a good 80min display so that I don’t have to walk around all weekend stewing about or form!
REDDY HAYNE ? hahaha please our eels have never been so pumped up
