Thoughts?

It’s common knowledge with Parramatta that we don’t retain our players from our junior system & other than Penrith, our junior grades have always been the bench mark. With the way things have gone this season & the quality of League we are playing, should we seize this oppurtunity to give the players who have been waiting for an opportunity for years but over & over we have given to players that haven’t showed heart or skill or passion.Nathan Davis, brought up through the system since SG ball has showed promise & heart week in, week out, in a losing team in NSW CUP. Size, strength & speed is what we lack so why not give him another shot.

  • Can't be any worse than Taka. Michael Jennings, I don't know what has happened to him but he is playing like a park footballer. I would give stone, lesialo and a few others a run before years end. To see whom is worth keeping.
    • Yep
  • The problem with our juniors is that they dominate in junior football purely based on size. When they make it to NRL and their size and power advantage is taken away they are no good. They cant rely on size at that level its skill and heart that they lack. Our juniors are picked purely on body shape and its not working. We have not produced a top liner in a long time...just average plodders
    • BA has actually driven a philosophical change in that approach. It's one of the reasons, I'm continuing to support BA, is I think he actually is connected to our junior system, and gets the particular challenges/strengths we have. Some may say for what benefit, but any junior program is going to take four to five years to bare any NRL fruit, and we'll see how likes of Salmon, Mahoney, Schneider, Kaufusi, etc go.

      • We simply can't survive without our infamous FIVE YEAR PLANS which are revised every 3 years to start all over again.

        Well said Phil

    • I hope so Phil as we need a change in thinking around our junior program
  • Jeel, your comments are incorrect, in the last 3 years the rep program has moved away from size under directions from the head coach.

Mark Carrol in the Terrorgraph today made a statement that our  junior sides are small compared to other teams, he may well have been influenced by the Manly U16s who were probably the biggest side ever put together at that age. Having said that the team was recruited specifically for size from the Penrith and Parramatta juniors - Doonside and Greystanes had more than 2 players each in that team.

As many have stated , the junior programme has been built over the past 3- 4 years and it is the 14/15 year old players from that group who are now moving towards. NRL . Over the next 2/3 years we will start to see the benefit of what was started when DA was moved on from a position of influence.

"Whose going to do the main goal kicking this year? Moses, Pezet, Russell ? Or maybe another? Pezet is very good. Moses very good, Russell ok but struggles with kicks that are closer to the sidelines. "

"Just no injuries please. I dont care if we lose. Means nothing if we rock up to Melbourne round 1 and get flogged.
Mitch should kick a few balls, make 1-2 tackles, pass the ball once or twice and then come off.
