BA has actually driven a philosophical change in that approach. It's one of the reasons, I'm continuing to support BA, is I think he actually is connected to our junior system, and gets the particular challenges/strengths we have. Some may say for what benefit, but any junior program is going to take four to five years to bare any NRL fruit, and we'll see how likes of Salmon, Mahoney, Schneider, Kaufusi, etc go.
We simply can't survive without our infamous FIVE YEAR PLANS which are revised every 3 years to start all over again.
Well said Phil
Jeel, your comments are incorrect, in the last 3 years the rep program has moved away from size under directions from the head coach.
Mark Carrol in the Terrorgraph today made a statement that our junior sides are small compared to other teams, he may well have been influenced by the Manly U16s who were probably the biggest side ever put together at that age. Having said that the team was recruited specifically for size from the Penrith and Parramatta juniors - Doonside and Greystanes had more than 2 players each in that team.
As many have stated , the junior programme has been built over the past 3- 4 years and it is the 14/15 year old players from that group who are now moving towards. NRL . Over the next 2/3 years we will start to see the benefit of what was started when DA was moved on from a position of influence.
