This week Id settle for

Our forwards to run hard with support runners. For our halfs to plan the set including the last tackle option. Line speed in defense. Quality chase on the kick. If we get a quick play the ball get the ball wide give our backs some early ball for a change with momentum.and for FARK sake complete above 75%. I can put up with the 3-1 penalty count in the opposition s favour and even a loss if we can the simple things right.

  • Sounds like coaching 101.
    Asking too much? ?
  • The scary thing is that if we had done those basic things in every game we would probably be in the top 8. Remember the year when the dragons won the comp with bennett? They were the most boring team ever, but they had good defence, good completions and worked well together.
  • Spot on. We need forwards to run hard and straight with support players. I've seen Mannah, Mau and Gower in recent weeks where they'll turn around during the tackle looking for the offload, but no ones there. Very frustrating to see that expression on their face when they realise there's no support for them. Makes their efforts a bit pointless.

Also want to see kicks being chased, even if just to apply some pressure and maybe force an error. Then there's the 5th tackle options...

I'm hopeful that Kelly can get things back to basics for us and let Norman step up (with that stability) to work some magic.

  • It's a simple game Josh. People lose sight of that. Sure there's alot of variables but your platform should remain the same. The problem with people in general is when pressures applied we fall into old bad habits. Sandow case in point. I'd love to watch a weeks worth of training sessions one day because I'd love to know what we practice. They say you need to spend a thousand hours on a single thing to become an expert. Our kicking game suggests no one in our side has spent a fraction of that mastering one of the most important aspects of the modern game. Somebody hire Cronk as halfs coach when he retires so he can ram that point home. Our kicking game drives me nuts. It's my number one priority when it comes to any potential half signing.
  • Sorry 10 000
  • I'd settle for a hard effort and lose by 2, cause that is as good as it is going to get.
