THIS HAS TO STOP!!!!!

Look, ever since I started watching League I've always enjoyed watching the State of Origin Series, whether I was at home or at the game you could feel the energy and vibe of the game because of the crowd. However, whenever I watch the game when it's played in Melbourne that special vibe just isn't there. The crowd numbers are tiny when compared to QLD and especially NSW. The NRL keeps taking Origin games away from Sydney and giving them to Melbourne. Just when NSW begin getting some momentum and it comes up to our year to have 2 home games, 1 goes to Melbourne. That's not Origin. Origin is NSW VS Qld not NSW VS QLD featuring Melbourne. The games should be kept in NSW and QLD because that's where the rivalry is. It's our centrepiece and 30,000 fans isn't enough for SOO. Players are used to seeing 50,000- 80,000 fans in a packed Suncorp or ANZ Stadium, not a half full Etihad Stadium or AAMI Park. By taking it to Melbourne the NRL is losing out on revenue and Origin just isn't the same when played in Melbourne. My message to the NRL: KEEP ORIGIN IN NSW AND QLD.

  • In Melbourne's defence Origin is the only Rugby League they like.

    • But the problem is that Etihad Stadium is maxed out at 50,000, nearly 30,000 short of what usually turns up to an Origin match in Sydney. Whoever is giving away the matches has to realise that many of the fans don't like it being played in Melbourne. It has 1 NRL team and if many of us had our way that team would no longer exist. Compared with 3 teams in QLD and 9 teams in NSW (10 if you count Canberra). It shouldn't be hosting the centrepiece of our game.
  • I live in Melbourne and think that it should not be played here.

If Parra play the Warriors in regular season the game is not played in Melbourne. Why deprive the real fans. Besides no Melbournites actually support NSW. Very frustrating living here and watching Victorians side with QLD by default.

So they effectively gain a QLD crowd at Melbourne games anyway.

Keep it in the states of origin.

Go the Blues- come on the EELS!

    • X2 Mate
    • Exactly, I am in Melbourne too and it doesn't matter if it's Rugby League or Cricket, they are all effectively Queensland supporters down here.
Melbournites have a strange inferiority complex and hate NSW full-stop.

I'm afraid NSW get what they deserve for allowing this to happen, especially on a year when we are supposed to have 2 home games. Fools.
  • yeah we loose are home ground advantage in a way
  • Let the homo's have there AFL. I don't know why the NRL keep trying to sell the game to the filthy mexicans!
And they'll all go for Queensland anyways!
    Shame shame shame!
  • I especially agree becuase the longer this qld streak continues the worse it is going to be for State of Origin as a whole. Without the two game advantage the streak may be 7 next season and then it goes back to Queensland? So our best chance of beating QLD is when they are on an 8 series winning streak?

I hear that more and more people are over Origin and no one is interested becuase its become less competitive.

  • QLD also hand over their advantage and play in melbourne, and still win.
  • no but they take it in turns.

"To be fair, they haven't won a finals match since 2015. If the NRL was fair, it would be the Dogs' turn to be strong. What's not fair is that the Tigers, Titans and Dragons never get a chance to challenge for premierships any more."
