This club is cooked

NRLW lost 22-8 to a team that was predicted to win the spoon

NSW cup lost 50-12

Flegg lost 32-26

NRL lost 28-12

Now I get the injuries but the conditioning problems throughout the whole club is very concerning. Our outside back development is horrid and It’s telling that the last genuinely athletic outside back this club has produced was Krisnan Inu, and that was the best part of a decade ago. Part of that comes down to recruitment targeting the wrong profile in the outside backs: chasing power athletes rather then genuine speed-men who can beat a defender one-on-one. Until the club fixes the conditioning and the recruitment/development pipeline for genuine athletes outwide, the Eels will stay a basket case. Other clubs debut freakish athletes at a young age, etc Fletcher Hunt at the Knights and Dayne Jennings at the Bunnies. Why can't we do the same?

And that is not to mention the first grade recruitment...

  • Hayne says hello

    • You're right, I forgot about the plane.

      • Hayne debuted 2006; Inu 2007

  • The culture is gone. There's no winning DNA and I really don't know how we will ever change that. We are destined to be at the bottom forever

  • With the girls it doesn't suprise me they are unfit. The cherrington sisters are so unfit and malia murphy needs to trim down along with the cherrington sisters. They are to busy doing tik toks to give a fuck

    • The Girls comp is a bit of a piss take . I know we are all supposed to be blown away at their super stardom , but you're exactly correct , they are like a bunch of school girls the way they carry on. If they'd spent as much time being dedicated athletes as they do filming themselves maybe they'd be in better shape .  Mark Tookey had nothing on some of these "athletes " .

  • Sad to say, but I have to agree to this. This appears to be a systemic issue across the club—not just in the men’s first grade, but also the NRLW and as mentioned here, it appears to be in the junior pathways as well.

The same performance issues are evident across all levels: poor conditioning, repeated errors and penalties, slow play-the-balls, weak ruck defence, and ineffective attack. When these challenges continue throughout the organisation, they indicate a broader structural issue that requires coordinated, club-wide action.

Responsibility rests with the club’s executive leadership, football operations, and recruitment and retention teams to provide effective governance, identify the underlying causes, and implement clear strategies for improvement. This includes establishing consistent performance standards across all grades, strengthening development pathways, monitoring progress, and ensuring appropriate support and resources are in place. Where outcomes do not improve, leadership must be prepared to review processes, make necessary adjustments, and take decisive action to ensure the club continues to move forward.

    Hoping our 'luck' will change.

  • NRLW is a bit harsh to judge on the performance. Dragons had 13 sets of six before parra touched the ball. It was late tackle penalty after late tackle penalty. Not to say you can't criticise them. They definitely looked very unfit with a few players that will require dropping 5-10kg if they want to compete at that stage. Halves are an ongoing problem. Pearson is a Jeff Robson like player. Average in all metrics outside of an above average kickihfg game. Toki-Harris is not first grade standard.

regardless, game was lost in the first 15 and I think it's remarkable that the outscored them b the remaining game time based on how gassed they were early on

  • Future is looking 👀 bright 🤣

  • Sarantinos and O'neill are cooked the header should have said. And also we have.top many unicorn fans thinking these two can turn things around.  The proof is in the pudding both are the two biggest failures in sports
