"They're not ready"

I'd like to get everyone's opinion on the whole 'they're not ready' debate. Laurie Daley has already dismissed tedesco from the SOO side as well as a few others. I am not a big believer of this as it discriminates players on their age. Adam Reynolds was more than ready last year but they put the grub and hodkonson in instead. I think it's a blues blunder to not consider the younger ones. I mean would moylan even be considered as "ready" if hayne was still there? Where would origin be without the "unready" youngsters such as langer, fittler, hayne, johns, thurston or Lockyer all who played their first match before or in their early 20s???

  • I think we've seen a changing of the guard tonight. The Aussie team is predominantly QLD based and they got spanked. I'm not saying they are woeful, far from it but their average age is getting up there. A bunch of energetic youngsters could roll them this year.
  • Well if you believe the hype Sam thaiday our starting 2nd rower isn't wanted by Bennett
  • I think what it does show is that none of this group of smith, slater, Inglis or Thurston should be immortals.
This group has lost 2 four nations, a World Cup, lost 3 in a row for the first time ever. They have presided over the fall of Aussie rugby league.
    • Wow big call.... But I do agree
    • Although I think the whole team on the last few years was let down by poor forward selection this year Greg bird c'mon really the only one cloSe to an immortal is thurston
    • Sobering thought for qlders but spot on.ive always thought Inglis and Smith were overhyped. Thurston however, the blokes everywhere on a football feild. His game awareness is second to none.quality.
    • Sorry but Thurston should be an immortal, the stuff he can do on the field is amazing. The fact that he's won 3 Dally M's and still has a couple of years to win another shows his class.

  • You should always have a mix of youth and experience.

You can fall into the mistake of not bringing the odd young guy in before the oldies lose their powers and then you've lost the momentum.

  • Agreed
  • The QLD/ Aus team is getting old.. NSW should have no problems

"Some players need to get sacked from a club and risk losing it all before they really knuckle down and put in the work.  Why did he get sacked, was it lack of discipline for footy and training or off field issues?"
