So talk is that Canterbury and Wests are set to be involved in a player swap of sorts, which would involve Kyle Flanagan heading to Concord in exchange for Luke Brooks. Flanagan on 500K and Brooks on 800K. Now not sure how the finacials would work, perhaps both clubs just take on the current salary for rest of the deal. That will mean Canterbury are paying 300k extra on their cap for Brooks, when they were supposed to be releasing him with Thompson and Allan in order to register Kikau, Mahoney and Sutton. But if Flanno's money is being used on Brooks plus more than they will have less to use on their squad.
How could they possibly even entertain it when three players are in limbo with NRL, they have limited money already left with numerous spots left to sign up for their mandatory 30 man squad? Do they need a 7? yes but they should have thought of that before buying what Barrett called a luxary in Kikau, a 7 is more important than a luxary. Like buying a 100" OLED TV for your bedroom but have no bed, luxary outranked need in that situation when you could have gotten both for reasonable price. It would have been better not to buy Sutton and Kikau, have Mahoney and Brooks then re-sign Vaughan and Dufty too.
I have no idea what they are doing and how the NRL would allow it. I know what Wests are doing, using Kyle to get Shane over as they will be sacking Madge very soon. But still threw their hat in the ring for Haas now Brooks with three deals not being registered, how is nobody in the media mentioning it. If Parramatta had that it would be everywhere, we had that with our off-contract list.

Well this is a ploy to get Shane to the club as if he was going to go to Wests it would be inevitable that Kyle would join.
Brooks is no better with Canterbury, better 6 but still poor culture.
Nothing wrong with talking but as you've rightly pointed out the numbers don't add up. Tigers would maybe take Flanagan plus $300k cash from the Dogs for this year (and however long Brooks contract is). The Tigers would only release Brooks for full freight.
But the Dogs definitely don't have spare cash laying about. I highly doubt a deal can be done here.

The good thing about Gus joining the dogs is he will completely destroy their salary cap
This 100% he likes signing players to long terms contracts then try to offload them after a couple of years ,
actually I was very frustrated when he was at panthers because hardly anyone in the joint including coaches finished their contracts
