THE URBAN MYTHS

Inspired by my walk down memory lane with Truckereel the other day about food from the 80s, and the fact its a bye, I am wondering if anyone remembers any 'urban myths' from their time living in the parra area (or anywhere for that matter). Here are some of mine:

1. SOMEONE SPLIT THEIR TUMMY OPEN AT PARRA POOL (80s-90s)

When I used to swim there as a child the diving board was really tall then the top level was removed because someone dived down and bellyflopped and their insides went all over the pool and it had to be emptied- apparently.

2. RAZOR BLADES AT WATER WORKS AT MT DRUITT (80s-90s)

Lots of people got slashed at the water works - apparently because people stuck razor blades on the sides (how I don't know)

3. THE 'CYST BURGER AT KFC CARLINGFORD' (90s)

A story did the rounds that a girl ordered a chicken burger no mayo she brought it back as she bit into it and thought there was mayo. On taking it back staff said none was added so muct have been a cyst that burst. Noone ate chicken burgers in carlo for a long time after that.

Does anyone have any???

    • Ha ha its universal then and recycled.

    • Hey Mack Cabrra boy hey. I was a Fairfield boy. My brother and I used to go to Cabrra pools as kids ( next to the German- Austrian club). We used to swim in the diving pool because the Asians didn't swim in there because it was too deep and they couldn't swim. We were a bit racist in those days.

"Yeah like no other club would want that either. Why can't another top team or Perth do it? Cause they wont leave. Ivan ain't doing much with this squad in 2027 with that idea."

"Age hits forwards so hard so quickly. World beaters last season suddenly look like plodders. I'm sure Junior can still fire up for the odd game but I can't see him coming good. His contact was several years too long.
And with new teams joining the…"
