The truth behind Tapau's secret meeting that drove social media into a frenzy

was a good rumour …while it lasted.

Here was Manly forward Marty Taupau apparently talking to Eels recruitment officer Peter Sharp at a Parramatta café.

Good get if it’s right. Which it isn’t.

The man Taupau is sharing a flat white with is Parramatta welfare officer Dean Feeney.

Last time we checked, he looks nothing like P Sharp.

“I don’t talk to journos,” Sharp laughed when asked if it was him in the photo with Taupau.

Eels CEO Bernie Gurr confirmed it wasn’t.

Feeney and Taupau have apparently known each other for a while and were just catching up.

The Sea Eagles enforcer still has two years to run on his deal and has repeatedly said he intends seeing that out.

That hasn’t stopped the incessant rugby league rumour mill suggesting Taupau will be gone not long after the dust settles on the 2018 season.

And there’s no doubt the Eels would be keen if the Kiwi international was to spill onto the open market.

So if anyone can get a picture of Taupau and Sharp together, please get in touch.

I can assure you it was an eels logo 1000% I have 2 pictures, I someone explains to me how to upload photos onto this site I will send a zoomed in close up. This was taken at the cafe near salesyard. 3 August was the date of this meeting.
