The Time is Right For Foran

I've been giving this some thought, reflecting on the last two years and what BA has been trying to achieve. Here's my realisation.Despite the fact that we wasted opportunities to make the finals over the past two seasons, we are far better to have Foran joining us this coming year than in the previous years. This may seem crazy so I should elaborate.I believe that the past two years have been a period of growth for many players and the team. They needed to develop a more competitive attitude and toughness to their game.Had Foran been a part of the teams of the last two years we may have jagged some wins, and maybe snuck into the Finals. However, with the team as it was, it may have placed too much of a burden on his shoulders. For all of their talent, players such as Manu, Tepai, Junior and Edwards were incredibly inexperienced. In many respects they still are. But placing blokes so inexperienced around Foran would have made his job so much tougher. As for now, we have a team with two years under BA, combined with an injection of experience from blokes such as Watmough, Scott and Gordon. With this scenario we are likely to get the best out of Foran. He's ready and so is the team.

  • Agreed sixties. We have timed his signing perfectly. I reckon we're legitimate premiership contenders in 2017. Maybe even next year.

    • Not next year. I'm thinking 2018 more like it. You don't often make the finals for the first time in a long time and go all the way. Broncos are specials for it next year IMO

  • EE did 60's shit in your cereal or something????

  • Not sure if I really agree. This is the perfect time for Foran to come for BA because it was the time contract status lined up. That is the juggle act the coaches have to make. Parra would have been better off with Foran in the team than having to developers Norman as a 5/8.
    • Norman was virtually completely responsible for directing the team around the park. Sandow, for all of his attacking flair, could never understand the impact of his individual decisions upon the team.

    • That's a great point Mick. It will be interesting to see that outcome. With his fullback experience, Norman has certainly played both sides of the ruck.
  • The club has the foundations to be a top 4 team for 2016, anything less would be dissapointment for me.

Yes I have lofty expectations but this season we have depth covered for injuries, we have experience from the forwards to the halves and now in the backs as well.

If we sign Walker and there seems to be a lot of chatter about it then yes I expect a top 4 position.

Plenty of players playing for contracts and with competition for a spot in the top grade at a premium, the on field results will follow off the back of some possitive footy.

I just hope we get a fair bit of lady luck with injuries and the signing of walker to complete the squad.

  • One year early I rekn. Still need to cut Vai, Kelly, Terepo, Morgan, Mannah
    • Cut Mannah? Seriously??
    • Davo, your a moron. Mannah was one of our best last year and Morgon is great depth.
