THE STORMS SO CALLED CULTURE

I have heard so many people, commentators and ex players applaud the Melbourne Storm for their recruitment and retention and nothing shits me more (except manly, dogs, and every team left)

"Players want to play there, thats why they take less money" I am so sick of that too!

The reason the Storm are a powerhouse in the NRL is because they have a winning culture and players want to win.

So think back to how we lost the 09 GF to a team systematically rorting the salery cap billions of dollars and thats how they built there so called Reputation and culture of winning

They rorted the cap for years and with that they could have a team of superstars and they created a winning culture.

It's built on cheating and so they went a year without points, big deal look at them now, probably over the cap as everyone probably is but they really do have that team of stars that wants to win, as young up and coming players walk through the Melbourne sheds on there way to be interviewed they see all the trophies and pictures of all the greats to have played for the Storm

So the formula is CHEAT CHEAT CHEAT build a winning culture then we will be right for the next 20 years

  • They don't take less money for a minute. The other Clubs like the Roosters and the Storm are just smarter with TPA's etc so at the end of the day, the players are getting more than required to keep them or attract them to the Clubs mentioned.

    • Just like the double contract situation in 2009 with the Storm.  Only thing is they got caught out on that occasion.

    • How can they be "smarter with TPA's" when I thought TPA's are meant to be at arms length?

      • "Smarter with TPAs" is one of those euphemisms, like "better run" or "more well managed". It could either mean outright cheating and getting away with it, or spending so much on non-playing staff that they can eke out incremental gains in everything related to football: scouting, 'junior development' (poaching), coaching staff, trainers, facilities, recruitment/retention staff, operations staff, etc, etc.

        • "outright cheating and getting away with it". THIS.

          .

  • Smoke and mirrors.. they are still rorting the cap. Just like the Roosters. Why do you think ex Roosters players have ambassador roles at Sydney City Lexus post playing NRL?

    • Exactly. Its whay Cronk chose Easts over any other club, because he was promised post-career employment. They got away with it, unlike say Wests Tigers, who were stung doing the same thing for Robbie Farah, and were punished by the NRL. Yet Easts got away with doing the exact same thing. Why? Because someone in the media leaked what the Tigers were doing, yet the same media didn't say anything about the Cronk arrangement.

  • All clubs were cheating  the cap in the exact way the eels were when they were caught out. And they still do to varying extents. The cap is a false leveller because certain clubs get around it more successfully than others.
I have a bit of inside knowledge on this by I won't say anymore than that.

  • Okay I get and believe everyone is somehow cheating 100% What im talking about is the "Winning Culture" everyone keeps talking about on tv,'its built on a huge cheating program and really just shouldn't be!

    • Exactly. When the Storm were caught cheating, the whole team should have been disbanded. Since the year started their cheating in 2006, they have made 9 of a possible 15 grand finals.

They no doubt bulit this so called winning culture on the back of systemic cheating and having the most TPA's in the competition.
