The Sleeves on tour 2017 .

On the weekend I decided to go on a short break in a few weeks as I've got too much annual leave and have decided to see a bit of the state I live in . Heading out the last two weeks of July.Gunna rip the kids out of school for a bit of proper education that doesn't involve transsexuals , Gay marriage and why it's ok to not have a gender . A few weeks away from these whackos will do the kids a world of good .So anyway , we are going to head West out to Mildura ( not NSW I know ) and am heading out through Griffith on the way out and maybe back through Wagga , maybe even over to Adelaide or down a bit deeper into VIC along the Murray River depending on how the kids are enjoying the car time . So far we've penciled in ,* Altina Wildlife parkOn our hit list of things to do and see , so hit me people's , what else is out that way that's a must see for the fam bam ? I've had a bit of a Google around and have found heaps of stuff for 70 year old Grey Nomads , but not much for family's . I know this place is always a wealth of knowledge .Maybe I should buy the kids a few shovels and go on a hunt for Don Mackay whilst in Griffith ?

  • Ha Ha , the old Parramatta briefcase .

Have a look at the Visit NSW site. All sorts of stuff in there. The Pioneer Park Museum is good. The rice factory in Leeton has an interactive visitor centre (I don't think they do tours of the factory anymore). Also, in Mildura (and Echuca) you can do a cruise along the Murray.

Also probably a bit out of your way, but the Grampians in VIC are worth visiting - some very good bushwalks there.

    • Ohh yeah , most certainly doing a river cruise . Cheers Longy . Not too sure about the kids under 7 at the Rice factory but I'll suss it out . Heaps of gardens and shite out that way I've noticed .

City Park @ Griffith looks the goods .
  • Mildura, is a great town, Wiz, some really beautiful spots around that area. If you go south of Mildura through Ouyen you can head to South Australia that way or if you go further south through Victoria and down through towns like Speed ( not the drug), Lascelles, Hopetoun ( nice camping area in Hopetoun at the lake), then down through Warracknabeal and onto Horsham you can visit the Grampians National Park and then go out west from Horsham towards Edenhope and onto South Australia that way. There should be plenty of wildflowers, wheat, canola ( beautiful yellow colour) flowering this time of the year.
Anyway, mate hope you have a great trip! and safe driving.
  • I can't stand Wagga, Griffith and The Riverina area in general. Unfortunately I get to Wagga every year or so because I have rels there and can honestly say that in my opinion it's a boring as batshite shithole. Just my opinion though.

Echuca on the Murray is a beautiful little town mate. Lots of Australian history, paddle steamers - all that sort of stuff. The kids would love it.

    • Agree, don't like Wagga I was in the Army there and I think we were banned from all the pubs but 1 and that one had a fire go through it from memory. Also agree with Kram that Echuca is a great spot and good for kids.
    • Thanks Lads , Yeah Wagga isn't really high on my radar . I've been there to pick up my latest boat the year before last and the day was kinda enough for me . We were pretty much just thinking of overnighting there to break the trip up a bit . I do wanna go to Echuca as there is a ski race there yearly I wanna go to the year after next to called The Southern 80 and I wanna suss out the House Boat hire places and a few Ski shops along the way . Moama/ Echuca is waaay up there on my schedule if all goes to plan .
  • Yes we are heading through Griffith and staying at Darlington Point for a few nights . Unfortunately I struggle to enjoy wine Fong and with the kids it'll probably be a pretty dry trip anyway. Might be a good chance to detox I guess but thanks for the offer . Might drop by The Griffith Hotel for a schooner and leave the kids in the car with some Salt and Vinegar chips and a Fire Engine just for nostalgic purposes .
  • The Mrs's old man lives in Mildura so we are staying there about 5 nights and looking forward to it . I've been told it's pretty good in the 20 years I've been with her I've never been out to his place visit him haha so I thought I'd better make the effort this time .
  • Wizard Sleeve: Mildura is a pretty good place. I spent two years there one night.
