  • Without knowing what he did, I just Hope all this crackdown on bad behavior crap doesn't go too far with blokes getting stood down for doing  jack shit.

  • Id say its all B.S.!  Nice try Snakey !

  • Peni is fine in Sydney

just has problems when going home to NZ

    • The news has it that he was drunk on a flight heading back to Oz and his behaviour was not good.  Not much else said but its now going to the NRL for investigation.

Question I have is how on a relatively short flight from NZ to Sydney, can someone consume that much booze to cause a problem like this?  If he had been drinking prior to boarding the flight then he should not have been allowed on, let alone the prospect of being served more booze.

      • That's a good question. Be interesting to see airport footage of him prior to the flight & how much alcohol he was served on board.

      • He's a big guy, so he could've easily had a few drinks in the airport lounge without showing any signs of intoxication. Once in the air he could've had a few more but due to the effects of drinking at altitude everything hits him at once.

        • As more mini details come out, seems that the incident was not a NZ to Sydney flight but from Tonga to NZ which is marginally further on the Sydney connection. Its also possible he was drinking home brew - Kava that has a creeping affect and very much cultural more many Islanders.

The aspect of him refusing to hand over the alchohol both at the airport and on board, is likely the biggest issue in this, but will depend on what the air hostess says and whether she wants to go on with any charge or official complaint. Carry on alchohol is not allowed on any flights and must be bottled and in the luggage hold, it is handed out in flights but can be refused for people affected by drink.

I would say he will be stood down until the Club and NRL have fully investigated the incident, getting info from the NZ Police, and any on board witness statements, that may take some time, and he wont be playing until that is all fully looked at. He may also be told to take a rehab course as part of his standing down. Likely also he will be training by himself as well until all is finalised.

As he is off contract end of this year, its going to affect his likely resigning with the eels and whether any other NRL will sign him, his actual value will also be affected.

  • We should run the club like a boarding school.

9pm lights out, bed time for everyone.

    • Yep, these guys are so dumb they cant be trusted with alcohol this close to the season.

    • Bad things happen at boarding schools after lights out lol, definitely dont want to run the club like a boarding school unless you want 1/4 of the team commiting suicide and having serious mental health conditions in 20 years time.

A booze ban for the guys that demonstrate they have a problem would be a good start.

Anybody who shows they are drunk in public in a negative way goes on a season long ban, no questions asked, first strike and youre on the banned list.
