The real reason, Nathan Cayless had his retirement announced before round 5 (a lighthearted poke)

Many people have been wondering,Who leaked the story?why if he made his decision last year, didnt he announce it earlier? and other questions to that effect!

Well the answer is really simple, Channel 9's "the Footy Show".

Since the inception of Matty johns footy show, Paul Vautin has once again been scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Of course Nathan cayless made his decision late last year to retire, but he felt that the right thing to do was to help out channel nine, and add some life into the show, so the producers would offer him a journalistic job come seasons end. Smart move by Nathan Cayless, always the thinker.

Still not sure what you point is in this thread - cant see Caylo EVER being in commentary or even a guest presenter. He isn't much a talker in the media. I'm sure he'll be involved with the eels in someway moving forward.

Not sure what you mean by fatty 'scraping the barrel'?? Are you saying Cayless leaked the info to 9??? It was actuallly the daily telegraph that leaked the story

Whilst we are on the footy shows - The Matty Johns Show makes The Footy Show look like an Emmy Winning production. Matty has his moments but he is no leading man by any shot. It wont be around by seasons end thats for sure

Eric and FuiFui were just on mattys show. Very tough interview. Doesn't say much our Fui. But we love him.

I thought the footy show was bad... but the matty johns show is just pathetic. It's just an excuse for a bloke who thinks he's a deadset comedian to showcase his lame character acting, with the afterthought of making it remotely based around football. It's absolute amateur hour.

I'm sorry to offend anyone who actually enjoys that rubbish, and i can't say much for the footy show either. But i reckon it's matty johns whose doing channel nine the favour.

i loved matty on the old footy show.

i must say i don't think the matty johns show is to crash hot , but it offers more entertainment value than the channel 9 sow.

It's not much good is it but what else is on, two and a half men? If nothing else you can watch 3hours of footy stuff with his show, nrl on fox (for those with pay tv) and the footy show.
