The proof that nrl club aren't judged all the same!

Here is proof that if your onened by news limited you can bend the rules and the nrl will turn a blind eye.The fact is media outlets such as the telegraph did not continualy publish this story cause quite simply they are run by the same organisation (news ltd) as in this issue from a couple of years back. The team involved here is the bisbane broncos who is run by news ltd and easily the most powerful figure in the league run by the organisation. If any mod or blogger on this site with pull power could run them across league heirachy in order to get a please explain to why this case was not allowed to take off and how the eels would get dragged through the mud and penalised in a major way.Links:http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/nrl/wayne-bennetts-secret-fund/story-e6frep5x-1111115066538http://www.theage.com.au/news/news/nrl-unfazed-by-payments/2007/12/09/1197135286364.htmlhttp://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/brisbane-broncos-fan-ken-talbot-paid-cash-to-shane-webcke/story-e6frg6n6-1225747115763

  • The Bronco's are a protected species, they have been playing on affair playing field since their inception.

Some of the stories i have heard about how they navigate the cap while our club is a supposed stain on the game is mind boggling.

And Once again News got what they wanted when they got rid of Dave Smith to put in another one of their puppets in Toddy Greenburg.  Dave Smith had his faults but at least he couldn't be bought and tried to do what was best for RL, i feel for where the game is heading under that slimy grub Greenburg.   The Bunker has been a multi million dollar dud but we have hardly heard boo from the media, Dave Smith copped it for months because he got a players name wrong.......

  • Absolutely teams are treated differently.
It was reported yesterday that Semi's manager approached Parra with the idea of Semi going over to France this year and making extra coin on the side and then coming back to fulfill his obligations but the NRL said no because they didn't want an NRL contracted player promoting another code, how can Semi playing Rugby in France be seen as a threat? If anything I think it would promote our code over there, I could understand if Semi was playing for the Wararahs or the Reds but I can't see how it's a threat and why did the NRL allow Gallen and SBW to box in the offseason...is that not supporting another sport?
Todd Greenburg said he wanted to help us after the salary cap issue but where is he, he was front and centre puffing his chest out when he announced the whole thing but when we go to him with a fairly good option that would have helped us out, kept Semi happy and possibly kept Semi in the game for years to come the NRL was simply not interested.
  • Broncos should have been hauled over the coals for encouraging Barba and Milford to break their contracts. And the Thoroughbreds, don't tell me that club doesn't ring them up for TPAs. But NRL dumb and blind to the obvious!

  • The Courier Mail and The Australian are both News Ltd papers (as is the Daily Telegraph) so what is your point?
    • Im aware of that yobz but my point is i clearly remember these articles when they came out and the way they were sweeped away within a 2 or 3 day period clearly shows that a call came from high above in the organisations ranks to lay off the topic.
Compare this to the numerous scathing daily articles that barraged the eels over several months which pressured the NRL to act in a way were the book would be thrown at them.
Nearly every article stated the leagues credibility was at stake if they let parra off lightly.
I believe if the media didn't go on the way they did that parra's outcome would have resulted in a much lesser panalty.
  • Great blog raid , it's no secret mate parra sells papers and it's obvious all these media outlets have a agenda towards parra , on a positive note French wow

"Burton would be a great 6 to have, but there's no doubt we'd have to get into a bidding war to win his signature. As soon as that happens the move loses appeal for me because he's not worth the salary Bulldogs had to pay to bring him over from the…"
