THE Parramatta Leagues Club has struck out a bid by three groups of members to attempt to overthrow its board — leaving long-suffering Eels fans to wait nearly two more months for a general election.Meanwhile, at a board meeting on Friday night, the directors also decided to appeal the NRL’s sanctions against the scandal-ridden Eels, in a move that is likely to cost Leagues Club members more money.Eels director Paul Garrard said on Friday: “I think it is vital that we appeal. In (NRL chief executive) Todd Greenberg’s statement, he said that the club has the right to appeal, and I think we should work within the system.”Leagues Club CEO Bevan Paul said in a statement that there had been “legal problems” with three proposals for an extraordinary general meeting that had been proposed for late August to vote off the board.Bevan Paul says there were problems with the proposals for a general meeting to vote out the board.“After careful consideration and extensive debate, the Board unanimously agreed that the flaws in the submissions invalidated them all, and as a result none of the motions submitted would be put forward at an EGM,” he said. This decision means that there will now be no meeting in August to sack the board, as had been proposed by the three EGM plans.Instead, there will be a meeting next month to decide on whether a full general election should now be held in October. Importantly, legal experts say this will leave the current Leagues Club board — of which Steve Sharp remains chairman — in control of the election process. The leader of one of the proposals, Chris Losco, said on Friday night: “The club has no leadership, and this plan does nothing to solve the leadership vacuum at the club.”The leader of another, Andrew Eagleston, said: “It is not in the best interests of the club to wait until October to vote out the board. The proper process should be adhered to in calling an EGM in late August.”After careful consideration and extensive debate, the Board unanimously agreed that the flaws in the submissions invalidated them all, and as a result none of the motions submitted would be put forward at an EGM,” he said. This decision means that there will now be no meeting in August to sack the board, as had been proposed by the three EGM plans.Instead, there will be a meeting next month to decide on whether a full general election should now be held in October. • What a fucking disgrace to not only our club but the entire NRL, we are a complete and utter disgrace to the game.

  • This is some North Korean type politics.
  • Fuck me.
  • Selfish pieces of shit.
  • Compare these lot to how Rupert murdoch dealt with the Storm salary cap scandal and you have polar opposittes. i hate the cunt but at least he knows PR and how to make it seem like you have learnt your lesson, had a strick penalty, weeded out the offending scapegoat in no time & as a business are United in getting things back on track.

The way these f*** wits have dealt with it imo has doubled the damage to the eels as a brand and i am not sure they have hit the bottom the way they are going. I dont know how they look themselves in the mirror.

  • This is all about ego and self-preservation.

They are hell-bent on 'exposing' the 'corruption' in the NRL and the evil-doing of Todd Greenberg.

What pisses me off is that is not their role. Their role is to protect our club and minimise our penalty, not wage a war on the NRL. The NRL increased our penalty for goodness sake.

The combative approach we've taken the whole time - all those stupid quotes in the media by Gadiel, Garrard and Cordwell about being squeaky clean and a illuminating response plus Sharps aggravating member messages - has been dumb, dumb, dumb.

  • Anyone on her want our 12 points back and some facts?
    • What facts?

    • Sparton im afraid to ask because you are sounding more dopey with every post and conversing with dopes can be tiring, but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt, please enlighten me with the facts?

  • Absolutely disgraceful, these pricks are a fucking joke.

How is it in the best interests of the club that these fucking clowns staying on???

What did their fucking laughable motto stand for again??? Club first??  LOL what a joke.
