  • Thanks Kemal, welcome aboard!

    • Cheers

  • Welcome Kemal, I take it that Sam Hughes is your boy?

Congrats on him making the side, you must be very proud!
    • Yea - Unfortunately found out on Saturday he has fractured his index finger at training on Wednesday. So he missed out on the Harold Matts trial against Wests on the weekend. Parramatta won 12 tries to 2 in a very dominant hit out. Our forward pack overwhelmed them.

Looking forward to the first game against the Bulldogs.

  • Hi Kemal. Sam certainly looked the goods in the trial at Blacktown. His touches inside the opposition 20 early on certainly marked him as a player to watch. We cover the junior reps on TCT so I hope to catch up with you throughout the season at New Era.
    • Thanks Sixtiesboy,

He really enjoyed the run against Penrith. Cost me $40 (2 tries @ $20 each).

Happy to catch up with you. Hopefully the broken finger doesn't keep him out for too long.

      • The old incentive scheme. Back in the 70s my father had a $2 per try scheme operating with me. My entire career set him back $8. Sam's in a great junior system at Parra Kemal. They won't rush him back either. Young talent is a long term investment. It's incredible how simply some of the injuries can occur.
        • That's too funny - I suppose if you allow for inflation from the 70's, $20 might be about right.

He has certainly enjoyed his time with Parramatta. Anthony Field's and the coaching staff have been excellent and the final Harold Mathews looks particularly strong with a lot of depth.

It is a shame that he will miss the opening rounds of the competition. Round 1 looks interesting against the Bulldogs.

  • Congrats on the Boy getting the call up Kemal, all the best to him, hope to see him on the big stage one day.

Does he get the talent from you or his mum?

    • Hi Snake Au Revoiradra, Definitely from his mum. Not sure how he got so tall though!

There is such a long and hard road to get to first grade. One minute your up and the next minute your down. He has ticked a few boxes on his short time at Parra but the key to any young footballer in my opinion is resilience. Many hurdles and obstacles - just don't take no for and answer.
