The Options Part 2

As I await this week's team list, I've been trying to determine what changes will be made. There's been plenty of speculation with valid reasoning behind it. However, I've been putting myself in the coach's shoes and I have found it more difficult than I imagined.Firstly, I see our issue as being too many inexperienced or fill in standard players are currently in the team at the same time. Whilst these blokes can do a job as a replacement for an injury, this can work well with a couple of injuries, not an entire three quarter line.So do we make changes with these players? The problem there is bringing in more players who are inexperienced to replace them. What about our established stars who aren't in form? Replacing them with an inexperienced player would be a recipe for disaster. No team carries stars in reserve grade. Sure there are players with potential, but their potential really shines when they replace a player but are still surrounded by quality players who are in form. Our injuries and form do not allow this luxury. So what am I thinking will happen? At best, our backline might be changed through the return from injury of Taka and maybe a re-shuffle. The forwards might have a change to incorporate one or two players. No matter what changes occur or don't occur this week, the emphasis will need to be on pride in performance. A repeat effort of the Titans game might force changes that the staff don't want to make. I'll back the team to turn it around this week.

  • There are only three reasons you make changes

    1. Players returning from injury or suspension

    2. Better players in the grade below who cannot be ignored

    3. An existing player needs to move to another position due to a weakness and then a player of similar ability fills in the original position.

    Regarding changes this week:

    1.

Taka may be back - comes in

Semi may be back - comes in

    2.

Pauli Pauli played really well in Reserve grade - may come in

Faaoso - Had intent and played strong, but had errors and Im not sure he is better at this stage than what we have.

    3.

Hoppa move to centre to strengthen the back line and replaced by ??

Apart from that, I dont see any other changes happening.

  • Great blog sixtiesboy , agree fully brother. But if the boys didnt do it after the Tigers game they actually got worse for the Titans. We can only hope and lets see what BA does with the line up......
    • What are you saying, Knights by 50+
