The Storm are in danger of losing boom young hooker Brandon Smith in the wake of Cameron Smith’s decision to sign a new two-year deal with the club.

The current Kiwi Test hooker and a member of the Storm’s grand final team last year, 22-year-old Smith was prepared to bide his time and wait for his namesake to retire - assuming he would only play one more season.

But Brandon is far from happy with the veteran hooker’s decision to play until the end of 2020 and is looking around for a better opportunity.

Several clubs are on the lookout for a class hooker for 2019, notably Parramatta, where Smith would be a great fit.

  • Is this one of the so called masive signings?

  • Buy him a house in the hills and park a boat in the garage.

  • Would be a brilliant signing.

  • The kid must have been the only person in the country not to know Cam was holding out for 2 years, if he knew why sign a recent extension, another made up story.

  • Now this kid would be a great buy! Possibly a future leader. This is one u would pay overs for. Tough, strong competitor, smart on & off the field, no origin duties, has had good teachers in Smith & Bellamy. Just too good to be true.

  • Believe when i see it.

  • At first, I was, well what's another year - but on the flipside of that - he's not young - I can understand him getting impatient. Potentially waiting until your basically 24 to get your crack at your chosen position.

If you were able to carry Smith and Mahoney, hooker certainly wouldn't be an issue for us anymore.

    • I think you could carry them both. Smith starts at 9 and drops back to lock like dean young at st George.
