The Mole: 2018 NRL Fearless Predictions

PREMIERS

No club has gone back-to-back since the early 1990s - but the Storm look to have what it takes to break the premiers’ curse. Sure, they’ve lost Cooper Cronk - but Brodie Croft is a great replacement. And they have Craig Bellamy - the best coach in the business.

Storm still dangerous without Cronk

WOODEN SPOONERS

Only Newcastle lost more games than the Titans last season, and the Knights have bought well whereas the Titans have lost some strike power in forwards Chris McQueen, Agnatius Paasi and Leivaha Pulu. I rate rookie coach Garth Brennan - but he has been thrown in at the deep end.

Brennan with plenty of work to do.

BIGGEST MOVERS

After consecutive wooden spoons, the Knights have opened up the purse strings and signed some real talent in Mitchell Pearce, Herman Ese'ese, Slade Griffin, Aidan Guerra, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Jacob Lillyman, Tautau Moga, Kalyn Ponga and Connor Watson. Add them to the kids Nathan Brown has been grooming over the last 18 months and you’ve got a team capable of challenging for a spot in the top eight.

Knights with plenty of fire power.

BIGGEST SLIDERS

The Panthers finished seventh last season but have lost some genuine class in Bryce Cartwright, Peta Hiku, Leilani Latu and Matt Moylan. They’ve looked scratchy in the trials and word is the camp is not a happy one.

Panthers slide inevitable.

BEST BUY

Sam Kasiano - the photos of him from Storm training are positively frightening. The big man has lost 15 kilos of fat and looks a lean, mean ground-gaining machine. Craig Bellamy will get the best out of him.

Kasiano looks fit at the Storm.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Mitchell Pearce - he comes to Newcastle with a point to prove after being all but unwanted at the Roosters and has the talent to lead the Knights to the finals. The change of clubs after a decade will do him good.

Pearce with plenty to prove.

TOP EIGHT

1.Storm

2.Broncos

3.Cowboys

4. Sea Eagles

5. Roosters

6. Sharks

7.Knights

8. Rabbitohs.

Our Eels made top 4 last year but this fool has us missing the top 8 in 2018!!!! Obviously has no clue!!

  • Well you really can't blame him. Every ever we hope to do better we go backwards so hopefully 2018 will be something different.
  • It’s not a bad move for somebody trying to show their credibility to back the eels to miss the eight. The club has a 3 decade history of dropping its bundle from time to time so backing it to happen again is possibly a smart play. Having said that I think it’s going to be a wrong call.

    • LOL I hadn't even noticed that Poppa lol how can we go from top 4 and miss the 8 and not be the "biggest slide " lol the mole is a clown!!

  • So this clown has the Eels missing the 8, Roosters in 5th, Broncos and Sea Eagles in the top 4. I'll be very surprised if any of those predictions come true.

  • If this guy gets it right I will do a nudie run through Parra westfields!!! 2. Broncos, 5. Roosters funniest of all though is he has 4. Manly then knights and Rabbitohs rounding out his 8!!! This guy has no idea

  • So Fong are you saying if the EELS make the eight it won't be because of the team  playing well it will be because we got lucky as we had the easiest draw.

  • we will make the top 8 it just where will it be in the top 8 I just hope 4 or better

  • How many predicted top 4 finish for Parra last year? All I am saying is we never finish well when everyone expect us to do well. 2006, 2007 and 2010 at the big example. I am hoping under Brad we are are different team and do well as expected.

  • His ladder predictions are as reliable as his player signing rumours. Speaking of which I honestly cannot recall him ever getting a player signing rumour correct. Not once.

  • Knights top 8

    Please.!!
